Responsibilities
  • The program focuses on one-on-one instruction and mentoring, enabling trainees to gain direct experience in preclinical research.
  • Hands-on training emphasizes grant writing, in vivo trial design, statistical sciences, biomedical ethics, preclinical regulatory principles (Good Laboratory Practice [GLP] and Veterinary International Conference on Harmonisation GL9), in vitro and in vivo measurement methodologies, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Hands-on instruction in the operating room on basic and complex operative techniques for the musculoskeletal system, and the development and use of implant systems (trauma long bone, spine, total joint replacement, joint resurfacing, craniofacial, biofilm infection, regenerative musculoskeletal therapies), and the development and use of emerging technologies.
  • Model species comprise rats, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses.
