Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required.
  • Must be a licensed Medication Aide who has successfully completed a state-approved training program and any necessary examinations in accordance with state laws.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities
  • Follow facility policies and procedures governing the administration of medications to residents.
  • Note and report errors in medication administration.
  • Assist in developing and implementing facility procedures or programs to identify, analyze, and prevent medication errors.
  • Complete and submit required forms, charts, reports, and other administrative documentation.
  • Maintain working relationships with nursing department personnel, attending physicians, the Medical Director, and pharmacists.
  • Report resident complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Participate and cooperate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs, the Pharmaceutical Services Committee, and other programs affecting medication administration and process accuracy.
  • Prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications accurately and safely.
  • Verify that medications brought by newly admitted residents are examined and identified by the attending physician, facility pharmacy, or pharmacist.
  • Follow procedures for destroying medications, including required documentation, under the direction of the facility pharmacist or Director of Nursing Services.
  • Follow facility labeling policies and ensure all administered medications are properly labeled.
  • Follow procedures for charting medications.
  • Assist in documenting and removing medications discontinued by the attending physician.
  • Follow procedures for drug receipt errors, including notifying the delivery source and the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Ensure drug receipt error documentation includes a written report signed by an observer or witness and the employee.
  • Follow procedures for holding medications when residents transfer from the facility or when medications are discontinued.
  • Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed, and document refusals with the reasons for non-administration.
  • Promptly notify the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services of medication errors or resident reactions.
  • Verify resident identity before administering medication treatment.
  • Accurately measure, record, and report residents' vital signs.
  • Follow procedures that allow residents to self-administer medications.
  • Use common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms related to medication administration.
  • Attend continuing education programs to remain current in the profession and maintain certification.
  • Report suspected or known violations involving disclosure of residents' protected health information.
  • Perform assigned tasks according to established policies, procedures, and supervisor instructions.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules when completing assigned tasks.
  • Cooperate with interdepartmental and facility personnel to maintain adequate nursing services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information, and report unauthorized disclosures.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
