  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted to the United States as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end lab buildout execution for RF and system-integration environments across Austin, San Diego, and Seattle.
  • Coordinate deployment of racks, benches, chambers, RF infrastructure, test equipment, control stations, cabling, power, grounding, cooling, and secure lab network access.
  • Drive readiness for RF test areas, integrated system test beds, hardware-in-the-loop environments, and production-representative lab setups.

  • Ensure lab infrastructure can support integration, regression, throughput, latency, mobility, handover, timing, and multi-device validation.
  • Drive uptime and reliability improvements for lab systems, including monitoring, alerting, access control, inventory tracking, and failure-response processes.
  • Standardize lab configurations, diagrams, runbooks, rack elevations, port maps, cable labels, and operational procedures across sites.
  • Own procurement tracking for lab equipment, RF components, network gear, racks, cables, tools, fixtures, chambers, and facility-dependent infrastructure.
  • Translate technical needs into bills of materials, purchase requests, vendor quotes, lead-time tracking, and delivery schedules.
  • Manage vendor coordination for chamber deployment, electrical work, cooling, RF infrastructure, installation labor, and equipment calibration.
  • Track capital and operating expenditure needs, delivery risks, dependencies, and site constraints; escalate issues early with clear options and impact.
  • Maintain asset inventory and lifecycle tracking for lab hardware, instruments, network devices, and shared test infrastructure.
  • Travel regularly to Austin, San Diego, and Seattle to support lab buildouts, readiness reviews, vendor work, infrastructure deployment, and operational handoffs; travel is approximately 20–30%.
  • Act as the on-site execution lead during critical lab moves, new building bring-up, chamber installations, RF infrastructure deployment, and major test-bed readiness efforts.
  • Build repeatable lab standards so each site can be deployed and operated consistently while still supporting local engineering needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with satellite communications, wireless systems, telecom, RF validation, mobility, maritime, or customer-terminal validation is preferred.
  • Experience supporting anechoic chambers, RF-shielded rooms, integrated RF test beds, or large-scale system-integration environments is preferred.

  • Experience coordinating facilities work such as electrical, grounding, cooling, rack power, structured cabling, and space planning is preferred.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments where lab requirements, schedules, and dependencies are still being defined is preferred.

About the company

Amazon runs the largest online store in the United States and rents cloud computing to businesses and governments through Amazon Web Services. AWS pioneered renting computing power over the internet, and Amazon built its own delivery network to get orders to customers quickly. Shoppers buy from Amazon and from independent sellers on its store, and Prime members pay a subscription for fast free shipping, streaming video and music, and other perks. AWS rents out computing power, storage, databases, and AI tools so companies can run software without owning servers, and Amazon also makes Kindle e-readers and Echo speakers with the Alexa assistant. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, and it is based in Seattle, Washington.

What believers are saying

  • AI drives growth: AWS's AI and custom-chip sales each more than doubled, passing $25 billion a year by June 2026.
  • Stock grants gained value: shares hit a record in August 2026, making Amazon the fifth company to reach $3 trillion.
  • Ads are a third engine beside stores and AWS: they grew 26% to $19.8 billion in the June 2026 quarter.

What critics are saying

  • AWS's lead is shrinking: in the June 2026 quarter, Google Cloud grew 82% and Microsoft's Azure 43%, versus AWS's 37%.
  • Job security has slipped: Amazon cut 30,000 corporate jobs in October 2025 and January 2026 to reduce management layers.
  • Expect five office days a week: Amazon ended its three-day hybrid policy for corporate staff in January 2025.

What makes Amazon unique

  • Most of Amazon's profit comes from cloud: AWS made 21% of sales but 60% of operating profit in mid-2026.
  • Amazon is America's biggest parcel carrier by volume: it handled 6.9 billion packages in 2025, more than the Postal Service.
  • Writing matters more than slides: Amazon meetings open with silent reading of a six-page memo instead of PowerPoint.

Amazon shares rise 0.63% as Anthropic filing shows $110B in commitments

Amazon shares rose 0.63% to $249.56 on Monday at 10:10 EST, as Anthropic's public IPO filing drew fresh attention to Amazon's role as both investor and computing supplier. Reuters previously reported that Anthropic committed at least $110 billion to Amazon under long-term infrastructure agreements. Such commitments take time to turn into revenue. In the second quarter, Amazon's sales climbed 20% to $200.6 billion, and AWS revenue rose 37% to $42.2 billion. Earnings included $53.4 billion in non-operating pretax income, mainly from Anthropic investments. Heavier AI infrastructure spending pushed trailing 12-month free cash flow to negative $7.6 billion. The shares sit 1.12% below the GF Value estimate of $252.39.

Amazon's Jassy says AI inference is 10x too costly, bets on own chips amid $220B capex

Amazon chief executive officer Andy Jassy says AI inference is still "an order of magnitude too expensive" for widespread use. On The a16z Show, he said Amazon's chips business is "a big piece" of the fix. Jassy sees the biggest future demand in everyday business software that has yet to adopt AI. Amazon built its Graviton processor after similar problems with Intel, and Trainium follows that path. Jassy said Trainium offers 30% to 40% better price-performance than comparable processors. The stakes are high. Amazon expects about $220 billion of capex in 2026, and its free cash flow was a $7.6 billion outflow over the 12 months to June 30, 2026. Amazon reports third-quarter results on October 29.

Meta falls 7% as $34.9B capex tops cash flow; investors punish AI spending cuts and hikes

Meta shares fell 7% on October 22 even though third-quarter sales rose 26% and beat estimates. Capital expenditure of $34.9 billion topped operating cash flow as AI spending outran the company's cash generation. MetLife's Drew Matus says investors punish both capex cuts and hikes. "I don't actually really know what people want from these people," he said. Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday, followed by Amazon and Intel on Thursday. The four make up about 15% of the Nasdaq 100, which has fallen roughly 7% this month. The Federal Reserve decides on rates Wednesday afternoon, hours before Microsoft and Alphabet report. Matus expects it to skip a move and revisit policy in December.

Amazon's $74.99 Bee Frontier AI wearable hides a $143.88-a-year subscription bet

Amazon has launched the Bee Frontier, a $74.99 AI wearable that clips to clothing or is worn on the wrist. It listens to conversations and uses AI to create to-do lists, summaries, and reminders. The bigger bet is the subscription. Bee Pro costs $11.99 a month, or $143.88 a year, and adds Alexa+, Amazon.com links, third-party apps, and a personal AI assistant. Amazon says the Amazon.com link can suggest products mentioned in conversation. Amazon also launched the $99.99 Bee Eclipse, a credit card-sized model with over 21 days of battery life. Amazon says neither device stores raw audio, and transcripts are encrypted with user-managed keys. Amazon acquired Bee in 2025 and has not said how many users pay for Pro.
