Requirements
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree is required.
  • Assistant Professor candidates must successfully complete a veterinary neurology residency approved by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Neurology.
  • Associate Professor candidates must have five years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
  • Full Professor candidates must have eight years of related research, teaching, or clinical experience.
  • Associate Professor and Full Professor candidates must hold board certification in neurology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Neurology.
  • Candidates must be able to answer after-hours phone calls from house officers regarding neurology cases.
  • Candidates may be required to provide after-hours, weekend, or holiday consultation for cases involving emergent neurological issues.
  • Candidates must be available to work 8–10 hour shifts.
  • Candidates must be able to lift or maneuver equipment and materials weighing more than 50 pounds and perform prolonged standing or walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, sitting, bending, crawling, squatting, and twisting.
  • Candidates must be able to work with or around hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
  • Candidates must have valid United States work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for animals presented to a clinical veterinary neurology service.
  • Cooperate with other clinical faculty in clinical and hospital practice.
  • Participate in the school's research program as a team leader or member.
  • Participate in house officer training and the School of Veterinary Medicine's continuing education programs.
  • Participate in the didactic and tutorial instructional programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop teaching programs and instructional materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
