Requirements
- An MSN in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is required.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner role is required.
- An active, current, and unencumbered Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner state license is required.
- An active, current, unencumbered, and multi-state compact registered nurse license is required.
- National board certification specific to Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is required.
- The candidate must successfully pass a drug test.
- The candidate must have communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Responsibilities
- Travel to a facility or site location within 60 miles from your residency.
- Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the cooperating health care organization.
- Maintain effective communication with the student, cooperating preceptor or mentor, Office of Field Experience, and Grand Canyon University Course Faculty.
- Provide additional sources of information during contracted weeks with the student and remain available by phone and email while cooperatively deriving workable solutions if difficulties arise.
- Encourage learner responsibility in the student field experience.
- Provide adequate records on the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions student and supply those records to the Grand Canyon University Course Faculty using the external software Typhon.
- Apply evaluation procedures and supply the results to the Grand Canyon University Course Faculty.
- Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation.
- Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession and the pillars of the University.
- Participate in and support the university program, including alignment with the institution's philosophy and direction and service to the community.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
