Smartsheet names new leaders across APAC and Japan as demand surges in Technology, Manufacturing and Professional Services.

Smartsheet names new leaders across APAC and Japan as demand surges in Technology, Manufacturing and Professional Services. * Smartsheet strengthens market presence with promotion of Jarrod Kinchington to APAC VP and GM; appointment of Takeshi Osawa as President of Japan * Regional AI Adoption Accelerates, with MCP Server Actions Up By More Than 700% Since March Launch Smartsheet today announced new leadership appointments and regional expansion across Asia-Pacific and Japan. The moves underscore the company's commitment to helping customers across the region progress from individual AI productivity gains to organization-wide AI transformation. Smartsheet has promoted Jarrod Kinchington to Vice President and General Manager of APAC (Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and India), and appointed Takeshi Osawa as President of Japan. This comes as Smartsheet experiences accelerating customer adoption across key growth sectors in APAC and Japan - including Technology, Manufacturing and Professional Services - and surging adoption of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server AI capabilities throughout the region. Leadership for the Next Era of Regional Growth Kinchington is stepping up to lead APAC as the company deepens its regional footprint. The appointment comes amid continued growth across the region, with Smartsheet opening offices in Sydney in 2020, Tokyo in 2023, and most recently Singapore and India earlier this year to support its expanding customer base. "Customer demand continues to accelerate across APAC, fueling strong growth and reinforcing the region's importance to our global strategy," said Kinchington. "Organizations here are looking to transform with AI, but many are starting from a fragmented foundation. Before they can scale AI, they need a platform that shows them how work flows across the business and provides the governance to manage AI responsibly. That's especially important in APAC, where compliance requirements are stringent. Smartsheet connects work across the enterprise and gives organizations the visibility and control to safely scale AI." Takeshi Osawa brings more than 25 years of enterprise technology experience from Autodesk, SAP Fieldglass, and Cloudera. He takes the helm of a rapidly growing market: since establishing its Tokyo office in 2023, Smartsheet has grown to serve more than 400 customers in Japan, and its business has grown by approximately 400%. "I'm honored to join Smartsheet at this pivotal moment for the Japan business," said Takeshi Osawa, Smartsheet President & General Manager, Japan. "What resonates deeply with me is Smartsheet's approach: rather than replacing the systems and processes Japanese enterprises have invested in, we connect them securely to deliver visibility, governance and real-time insights across the organization. As AI adoption accelerates, I believe what companies need is not simply adopting AI itself, but translating AI into 'execution' that leads to concrete business outcomes. That's the kind of long-term business partnership Japanese customers are looking for. Together with our customers and partners, we aim to make Smartsheet an indispensable platform that supports the transformation and growth of Japanese businesses." Customer Growth and AI Adoption Accelerate Across Key Industries As organizations across APAC and Japan pursue AI transformation, they are turning to Smartsheet to connect data, systems and teams on a single platform. This demand fueled double-digit growth across the company's fastest-growing sectors in APAC and Japan over the past year, including: * Professional Services: New customers, including Bangkok Bank, join firms such as Anderson Mori & Tomotsune Foreign Law Joint Enterprise and First Sentier Investors in using Smartsheet to centralize client delivery and resource visibility, helping them optimize resources and enhance customer satisfaction. * Technology: Tech companies are leveraging Smartsheet to accelerate digital transformation and streamline operations. EmberPoint automated 70% of its business process steps using Smartsheet, while new customers like EML Payments reflect continued demand across the sector. * Manufacturing: Manufacturers are turning to Smartsheet to bring greater control and visibility to critical operational projects. Motul Asia Pacific used Smartsheet to coordinate a complex warehouse migration, while new customers like Maruti Suzuki underscore the growing demand in manufacturing for technology that helps lower defects and improve time to market. Organizations across APAC and Japan are embracing AI. Since the launch of its MCP Server in March 2026, adoption across the region has grown by more than 500%. By connecting AI tools such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise directly to live Smartsheet data, customers have executed over 600,000 AI actions - an average of 4,000 per day - with the vast majority creating, updating, or modifying live work. "Smartsheet is the backbone of how we run our consulting business," said Mike Ellis, Global Head of Zalaris Consulting at Zalaris. "We've unified seven business units across 34 countries on Smartsheet to create a single source of operational truth. Now with Smartsheet's MCP Server and AI capabilities, we're transforming our data into real-time intelligence. We can pull insights from across our entire tech stack, including Smartsheet, our BI and CRM platforms, and more, enabling greater automation and efficiency. As a result, we're seeing approximately 67% productivity gains, allowing our project managers to take on more projects simultaneously." Looking Ahead As organizations across APAC and Japan rethink how work gets done in the age of AI, Smartsheet is positioned to help them work more effectively, adapt faster and drive stronger business outcomes. "The opportunity ahead is significant," said Scott Torrey, Chief Revenue Officer at Smartsheet. "APAC organizations are making strategic investments in work management and AI capabilities. Smartsheet is the platform that brings these together - giving teams the visibility, speed and governance they need to execute complex work with confidence. Our leadership team is fully committed to supporting that growth." About Smartsheet Smartsheet unites people, data and AI to turn strategy into measurable enterprise impact. Smartsheet gives enterprises the speed, governance and trust to execute complex work across portfolios, operations and IT on a single, secure system. Smartsheet names new APAC & Japan leaders as AI use surges.

Smartsheet names new APAC & Japan leaders as AI use surges. Wed, 9th Sep 2026 (Today) Smartsheet has promoted Jarrod Kinchington to Vice President and General Manager of APAC and appointed Takeshi Osawa as President of Japan, as it reports rising AI adoption and customer growth across Asia-Pacific and Japan. Kinchington will oversee Australia, New Zealand, South-East Asia and India as Smartsheet expands in the region. Osawa will lead the Japan business, which has grown quickly since the company opened a Tokyo office and now serves more than 400 customers. The leadership changes come amid stronger demand from technology, manufacturing and professional services companies. Smartsheet said its operations in Japan have grown about 400% since launch, and it has added offices in Singapore and India to support regional expansion. Organisations across APAC and Japan have increased their use of Smartsheet's Model Context Protocol Server, which links AI tools to live data in its work management platform. Since the product launched in March 2026, adoption in the region has risen by more than 500%, according to the company. Customers have carried out more than 600,000 AI actions through the service, or about 4,000 a day on average. Most involved creating, updating or modifying live work. The tool is being used with services including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise. The figures suggest businesses are moving beyond pilot projects and using AI tools in day-to-day workflows. Regional growth Kinchington takes on the wider APAC role as Smartsheet looks to deepen its footprint in a market it sees as increasingly important to its global business. He has been part of the company's regional leadership team as it opened offices in Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and India. "Customer demand continues to accelerate across APAC, fueling strong growth and reinforcing the region's importance to our global strategy," said Kinchington, Vice President and General Manager of APAC at Smartsheet. "Organisations here are looking to transform with AI, but many are starting from a fragmented foundation. Before they can scale AI, they need a platform that shows them how work flows across the business and provides the governance to manage AI responsibly. That's especially important in APAC, where compliance requirements are stringent. Smartsheet connects work across the enterprise and gives organizations the visibility and control to safely scale AI." Osawa joins Smartsheet with more than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology, including roles at Autodesk, SAP Fieldglass and Cloudera. His appointment reflects the company's focus on Japan as a distinct growth market within the region. "I'm honored to join Smartsheet at this pivotal moment for the Japan business," said Takeshi Osawa, President and General Manager of Japan at Smartsheet. Together with our customers and partners, we aim to make Smartsheet an indispensable platform that supports the transformation and growth of Japanese businesses." Sector demand Professional services, technology and manufacturing were among Smartsheet's fastest-growing sectors in APAC and Japan over the past year. In professional services, Bangkok Bank was a new customer, while Anderson Mori & Tomotsune Foreign Law Joint Enterprise and First Sentier Investors use the software to centralise client delivery and resource visibility. In technology, EmberPoint automated 70% of its business process steps using the platform, while EML Payments was named as a new customer. In manufacturing, Smartsheet pointed to Motul Asia Pacific's use of the software during a warehouse migration and identified Maruti Suzuki as another recent customer. Smartsheet presented those examples as evidence that customers are applying AI and workflow software to operational tasks rather than limiting them to isolated productivity projects. That trend has become a central theme in software markets as vendors seek to show measurable business use cases for generative AI tools. Zalaris provided another customer example. As a result, we're seeing approximately 67% productivity gains, allowing our project managers to take on more projects simultaneously." Smartsheet's sales leadership said the region remains a priority as customers increase spending on work management and AI tools. "The opportunity ahead is significant," said Scott Torrey, Chief Revenue Officer at Smartsheet. "APAC organizations are making strategic investments in work management and AI capabilities. Smartsheet is the platform that brings these together-giving teams the visibility, speed and governance they need to execute complex work with confidence. Our leadership team is fully committed to supporting that growth."

Smartsheet bets on APAC leadership to capture AI work management surge.

Smartsheet bets on APAC leadership to capture AI work management surge. Analyst(s): Keith Kirkpatrick Publication Date: September 9, 2026 Smartsheet has named Jarrod Kinchington as VP/GM of APAC and Takeshi Osawa as President/GM of Japan, doubling down on a region where its Japan customer base has grown 400% since opening its Tokyo office. The moves align with enterprise buyer priorities: Generative AI is the top-ranked underlying technology priority among enterprise software decision makers (n=806), with 32.8% placing it first [[3]], and 55.2% of the same cohort (n=830) cite improved integration capabilities as a key budget confidence driver [[3]]. Smartsheet's $1.14B in PPM revenue and 6.70% market share place it second behind Atlassian Jira [[2]], and the company is positioning its integration-first, AI-enabled platform to capture a larger slice of an enterprise software market forecast to reach $1,103B by 2031 at a 10.9% CAGR. What is covered in this article: * APAC and Japan leadership appointments and regional growth signals * Enterprise AI adoption priorities and integration demand from decision makers [[3]] * Smartsheet's PPM market position and addressable market opportunity [[2]] * MCP Server momentum and connect-don't-replace positioning The News: Smartsheet appointed Jarrod Kinchington as Vice President and General Manager of APAC and Takeshi Osawa as President and General Manager of Japan. The moves follow a reported 400% increase in Smartsheet's Japan customer base since the company established its Tokyo office. Demand is active across technology, manufacturing, and professional services sectors in the region. Smartsheet's AI Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server has been deployed to enable AI agents to interact with Smartsheet data through a standardized protocol, and the company's strategy of connecting existing systems rather than replacing them is resonating with Japanese enterprises seeking measurable AI outcomes. Analyst Take: These appointments signal that Smartsheet views APAC and Japan as primary growth vectors. The 400% customer expansion in Japan since the Tokyo office opened gives that bet a credible foundation, and pairing regional leadership investment with MCP Server deployment suggests the company is building the organizational infrastructure to convert pipeline into durable enterprise relationships. Leadership investment meets demonstrated regional traction. Installing dedicated regional executives reflects a deliberate shift from opportunistic growth to structured market development. Kinchington's APAC mandate and Osawa's Japan-specific role create accountability structures suited to markets where enterprise sales cycles are relationship-intensive and locally nuanced. The 400% Japan customer growth figure is the clearest indicator that demand already exists. That demand is concentrating in technology, manufacturing, and professional services, three verticals where collaborative work management and cross-system integration are operational necessities. Dedicated leadership accelerates the enterprise sales motion needed to convert sectoral demand into contracted revenue at scale. AI and integration priorities validate Smartsheet's platform positioning. Smartsheet's connect-don't-replace philosophy maps directly onto stated enterprise buyer priorities. The Futurum Group Enterprise Software Decision Maker Survey (1H 2026, n=806 active respondents on this question) finds Generative AI is the top-ranked underlying technology priority, with 32.8% of respondents placing it first, ahead of Data Integration/Application Management (26.8% ranked first), Predictive/Analytics AI (23.3%), and Autonomous Agents/Bots/Agentic AI (17.1%) [[3]]. Integration is equally prominent on the budget side: 55.2% of the full cohort (n=830) cite improved integration capabilities as a key factor driving budget confidence [[3]]. Smartsheet's MCP Server addresses this imperative directly by enabling AI agents to interact with Smartsheet data through a standardized protocol, without requiring enterprises to dismantle existing workflows. In Japan, where process continuity is both a cultural and operational priority, this approach carries particular weight. Market share and addressable opportunity create a compelling growth case. Smartsheet holds $1.14B in CY2025 revenue and 6.70% of the PPM market, ranking second behind Atlassian Jira (14.06% share, $2.39B) and ahead of Microsoft (6.29%), ServiceNow SPM (6.05%), and monday.com (5.68%) [[2]]. The position reflects scale and competitive strength, with substantial room to grow in a fragmented category where the Net Remainder accounts for 42.60% of market revenue [[2]]. The broader enterprise software market reached $592.4B in 2025 and is projected to expand to $1,103B by 2031 at a 10.9% CAGR under the base scenario. Meanwhile, 49.6% of enterprise software decision makers (n=830) already use PPM software [[3]], confirming category penetration without saturation. APAC represents an underpenetrated opportunity within that broader market, and Smartsheet's regional leadership appointments are the organizational precondition for capturing a disproportionate share of that growth. What to watch: * Japan revenue contribution: whether the 400% customer growth translates into measurable revenue share in Smartsheet's next earnings disclosures * MCP Server enterprise adoption: which APAC verticals, particularly manufacturing and professional services, deploy AI agent integrations first and at what velocity * PPM competitive dynamics: how Atlassian Jira, Microsoft, and ServiceNow SPM [[2]] respond to Smartsheet's regional leadership build-out over the next two quarters * Integration budget allocation: whether the 55.2% of decision makers citing integration as a budget driver [[3]] convert that priority into Smartsheet-specific procurement in Q4 2026 and Q1 2027 * Market share trajectory: whether Smartsheet's APAC push lifts its 6.70% PPM share [[2]] as the broader enterprise software market expands toward the $1,103B 2031 forecast Sources. * Smartsheet Names New Leaders Across APAC and Japan as Demand Surges in Technology, Manufacturing and Professional Services, Smartsheet, September 2026 * 2H 2026 Enterprise Applications Market Sizing & Five-Year Forecast, Futurum Research, August 2026 * 2H 2026 Enterprise Applications Decision Maker Survey Report, Futurum Research, August 2026 Declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process: This content has been generated with the support of artificial intelligence technologies.
