  • Strong understanding of technical risk management, functional assurance and governance processes within a Major Accident Hazard environment.
  • Ability to apply HSE principles, legislative requirements, engineering standards and company procedures across mechanical engineering activities.
  • Ability to provide sound engineering judgement, constructively challenge technical decisions and support risk-based decision making.
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors and regulators, including leading technical discussions where required.
  • Ability to work across specialist and peer networks within the mechanical engineering discipline to share learning, resolve technical issues and improve asset performance.
  • Ability to produce clear technical recommendations, reports and assurance outputs.
  • Strong planning and organisational capability, with the ability to prioritise competing operational, assurance and project demands.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent higher-level education.
  • Demonstrable mechanical engineering experience within oil and gas, petrochemical or other Major Accident Hazard process industries, preferably including both onshore and offshore operations, maintenance, projects and asset integrity activities.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure technical compliance within the Mechanical Engineering discipline across Centrica Gas Infrastructure assets.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support to operations, maintenance and project teams to enable safe, reliable and efficient asset performance.
  • Provide technical input to projects, including specifications, design reviews, vendor documentation reviews, commissioning support and handover assurance.
  • Support the Management of Change process by assessing the mechanical engineering impact of operational, plant or design changes.
  • Prepare, review and maintain mechanical engineering standards, codes of practice, technical procedures and policies in line with applicable legislation, industry standards and Centrica requirements.
  • Assure adherence to Centrica engineering standards and manage deviations to ensure associated technical risks are identified, assessed and controlled.
  • Support the development and delivery of the mechanical engineering assurance plan, including internal and external audits.
  • Act as lead auditor for assigned internal and external audits, ensuring findings are clearly documented and actions are tracked to closure.
  • Provide mechanical engineering input to safety studies and risk assessments, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, SARA and operational risk assessments.
  • Lead or support event investigations and root cause analysis where mechanical engineering input is required.
  • Provide technical assessment and attendance support for factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and witness inspections.
  • Act as the mechanical engineering discipline contact for regulator audits, inspections and site visits, as required.
  • Act as delegate for the Mechanical Technical Authority when required, providing competent mechanical engineering judgement and ensuring technical compliance is maintained.

Leeds-headquartered mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) services provider G&H has secured two new decarbonisation contracts with Centrica Business Solutions, marking the latest step in a long-standing partnership focused on delivering greener infrastructure. Under the new contracts, G&H will carry out MEP works at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham and Hereford County Hospital in Hereford. Richard Tandy, head of projects at Centrica Business Solutions, said: "Clayton Pc is committed to delivering scalable bespoke energy solutions that allow organisations to reach their sustainability goals, as well as reducing their overall energy costs. "G&H's mechanical and electrical expertise, combined with Centrica Business Solutions' capabilities in large-scale onsite, behind-the-meter energy solutions, will enable these organisations to progress towards a greener, fairer future."
