Requirements
  • Active membership on the UMMG medical staff is required.
  • Physicians must comply with UMMG and UHealth bylaws, policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • The role requires compliance with relevant federal and state statutes, regulations, administrative instructions, and The Joint Commission accreditation standards.
  • The physician must demonstrate accountability to quality-of-care expectations and participate in professional review, performance improvement, utilization review, and risk management activities.
  • The role requires timely closure of encounters and responses to in-basket messages.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate UMMG objectives, goals, and long-term interests while collaborating with the departmental administrator, vice chair of administration, and clinic leadership.
  • Ensure high-quality clinical care through interaction with clinicians, nurses, and staff.
  • Collaborate with the practice manager or administrator to promote a positive patient experience, improve processes, and support efficient patient flow.
  • Collaborate on the quality of patient care and research services.
  • Collaborate on expansion of services aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between medical staff and hospital staff.
  • Support development of the unit's annual budget and maintain expenses within expectations.
  • Ensure monthly and annual revenue and expense targets are met with the Practice Administrator, vice chair of administration, and CHDS Finance Director.
  • Determine appropriate staffing patterns and provide input on staffing requirements.
  • Develop policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate physician performance in satellite locations in collaboration with relevant leaders.
  • Foster communication and connectivity between the clinic, UMMG, and UHealth.
  • Assist medical and clinic leadership in developing an organizational culture focused on continuous performance improvement and clinical research.
  • Oversee outpatient physician scheduling and efficient assignment of clinical examination rooms.
  • Assist recruitment efforts and develop mechanisms to onboard new physicians.
  • Encourage clinic faculty participation in divisional meetings and promote audiovisual teleconferencing and enhanced connectivity as needed.
  • Collaborate with medical directors of support services to ensure integration of services.
  • Promote performance-improvement principles by assisting with the design, analysis, and monitoring of practitioner performance through data collection.
  • Assist with implementation of applicable federal and state statutes, regulations, and administrative instructions to meet Joint Commission accreditation standards.
  • Serve as liaison with the medical staff for UMMG affairs, including physician complaints, risk events, and customer service issues.
  • Represent the clinic in contacts with private and public organizations and institutions.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and plans and identify marketing opportunities and needs.
  • Develop and participate in outreach activities to increase patient volumes and raise awareness of the practice.
  • Serve as liaison with School Board administration for patient matters.
  • Perform other functions and duties assigned or requested by UMMG leadership.
