Job Summary

The Team Supervisor, Credit and Collections provides day-to-day leadership and oversight to a team of Collectors responsible for collection activities and Accounts Receivable operations.

The Team Supervisor monitors customer credit and financial risk associated with the collection of Air Navigation Service charges and Miscellaneous Revenue accounts, ensuring appropriate collection controls and risk mitigation measures are applied.

The Team Supervisor assesses higher-risk and complex accounts and recommends appropriate action to the Manager, Credit and Accounts Receivable to minimize NAV CANADA’s exposure to financial loss.

The role requires sound judgment, effective customer and stakeholder management, and the ability to balance collection objectives, financial risk, operational considerations, and customer relationships.

Key Accountabilities:

Provide functional supervision to the Accounts Receivable Collections team.
Act as subject matter expert in credit risk mitigation and drive continuous process improvements.
Monitor and analyze overdue accounts, assess credit risk exposure, and collaborate with Collectors to initiate recovery actions and prepare documentation for potential legal proceedings Analyze customer data, industry trends, financial ratings, and business conditions to assess and mitigate credit risk. Report regularly to the Manager, Credit and Accounts Receivable on key risks, trends, and policy exceptions.
Prepare and maintain reports for the Accounts Receivable Collections Committee, bad debt allowances, GL reconciliation, and corporate reporting.
Conduct in-depth credit risk analysis by monitoring arrears, payment history, customer financial ratings (D&B, Moody’s, S&P), industry trends, and geopolitical factors.
Present analytical findings to influence stakeholders and support business decisions.
Understand NAV CANADA’s complex rate structure and Revenue/Billing process and be able to speak to it when required with customer.

Job Requirements

Education:

Completion of post-secondary education in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

Experience:

7+ years of progressive experience in credit, collections, or financial risk management, including supervisory experience.
Experience in negotiating resolution of payment discrepancies and follow-up on overdue accounts.
Experience working effectively with internal and/or external customers and stakeholders, including senior management.

Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of credit risk management principles, collections practices, financial analysis, and accounts receivable operations.
Familiarity with credit rating agencies (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s.
Strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Accounts Receivable Automation tools as they pertain the Accounts Receivable process (including provide conducting daily reconciliation and close of day support).

Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to manage high-risk accounts, implement recovery strategies, and prepare cases for potential legal proceedings.
Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex datasets and identifying credit risk trends.
Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts to manage customer relationships while enforcing credit policies.
Coaching skills to mentor a team of collectors.

Photo: Photo: Mark Carney/X Ottawa/IBNS-CMEDIA: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre agreed Sunday to pursue an enhanced defence cooperation agreement next year, building on Canada's selection of the TKMS 212CD submarine as the preferred supplier for its next fleet of submarines. The announcement came as Støre visited Ottawa, where the two leaders issued a joint statement outlining plans to deepen cooperation across Arctic security, space, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, climate and support for Ukraine. The 212CD submarine, jointly developed by Norway and Germany, will anchor what the joint statement called a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" to deepen military, industrial and technological ties between the two countries. The enhanced defence agreement is expected to follow the conclusion of negotiations on Canada's Patrol Submarine Project and build on an existing 2023 bilateral defence memorandum. On Arctic security, the two governments pointed to a bilateral Arctic Dialogue established earlier this year covering surveillance, situational awareness and interoperability, along with a Canadian Coast Guard-Norwegian Coast Guard partnership signed in June under which the two services have already run joint training exercises in Arctic waters. Polar Knowledge Canada and the Norwegian Polar Institute signed a new memorandum of understanding to expand joint research in the Arctic and Antarctic. The Canadian Space Agency and Norwegian Space Agency finalized a separate memorandum to deepen cooperation on space-based and dual-use capabilities, a partnership reflected in new business agreements: Kongsberg and MDA Space signed an agreement on multi-domain and space-based surveillance capabilities, while Kongsberg and Telesat agreed to explore collaboration involving Telesat's Lightspeed satellite network. On critical minerals, the Geological Survey of Canada and the Geological Survey of Norway agreed to collaborate on joint mineral mapping and the exchange of geoscientific expertise, aimed at supporting more resilient supply chains. On Ukraine, the two leaders reaffirmed support for what they called a just and lasting peace backed by robust security guarantees. The Canadian Commercial Corporation and the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency signed a letter of intent establishing a government-to-government framework for procuring military assets for Ukraine. The two countries are also set to co-host, along with Ukraine, a ministerial conference in Toronto next week on returning Ukrainian children, detained civilians and prisoners of war. The joint statement noted that more than fifty Norwegian companies have established a long-term presence in Canada. Among recent deals cited, Kongsberg has invested $76.5 million in a Marine Innovation Simulation Centre of Excellence with the British Columbia Institute of Technology and is partnering with NAV Canada on a remote digital air traffic services project. Norway's Equinor is also advancing the Bay du Nord offshore oil project roughly 500 kilometres off Newfoundland, in an agreement with the provincial government. Carney and Støre also agreed to deepen cooperation on artificial intelligence, including the testing and responsible deployment of AI systems and its use in public services, building on a joint statement on sovereign technology and AI cooperation issued in March. On climate and oceans, the two countries reaffirmed commitments under the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and Canada said it looks forward to continued collaboration with Norway as it prepares to host the 12th Its Ocean Conference in Halifax in 2027. Iridium to acquire full ownership of Aireon. Iridium Communications entered (14-May-2026) a definitive agreement to acquire full ownership of Aireon. Iridium will acquire the remaining 61% of equity interests of Aireon from NAV CANADA, AirNav Ireland, ENAV, NATS and Naviair for approximately USD366.7 million. The transaction is targeted to close in early Jul-2026. The acquisition will combine Aireon's surveillance and data services, including GPS jamming and spoofing detection, with Iridium's global satcom network and positioning, navigation and timing services. The Aireon system operates on the Iridium satellite constellation. NAV CANADA and NATS will sign extended data services agreements through to 2035 and beyond, with provisions for continued cooperative development of space based VHF communications and other new capabilities.
