Emergent expands MongoDB partnership for enterprise AI apps. Fri, 2nd Oct 2026 (Today) Emergent has expanded its partnership with MongoDB, allowing Pro and Enterprise customers to connect existing MongoDB Atlas organisations to the AI software creation platform. The integration lets customers build and run applications created by Emergent within infrastructure they already own and manage. Its agents provision and manage the required database resources behind the scenes. MongoDB Atlas has been the default database for every application built on Emergent since the platform launched. This latest step extends that relationship into enterprise environments, where companies want AI-built applications to sit داخل existing systems rather than in separate managed setups. Customers can authenticate through MongoDB and grant access to their organisation without managing API keys. Once connected, the platform can manage the projects and clusters needed to run applications inside a chosen MongoDB Atlas organisation. The arrangement applies to Pro and Enterprise users. For smaller customers and founders using the standard managed setup, the experience remains unchanged: MongoDB Atlas continues as the default database without additional configuration. Enterprise focus The announcement marks a push by Emergent beyond app creation and into production deployment for larger organisations. More than 12 million applications have been built on the platform, according to the company. Emergent was designed for users who may not have conventional software engineering skills. They describe an application in natural language, and the platform's AI agents build and modify it. That workflow creates particular demands on the database layer because application requirements can shift during the build process. Data models often need to change as users refine prompts and alter features during development. According to both companies, MongoDB's document model has been central to that process. Emergent said the structure allows its agents to adapt the data model without the migrations required in a fixed-schema system. "Our users come in, describe an app, and our agents build it. But what they ask for often changes mid-build," said Mukund Jha, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Emergent. "The schema evolves the same way the conversation does. We believe MongoDB is the best database for agentic coding. Nothing else we tested kept up with how our users build," Jha said. Wider partnership The relationship now extends across product development, go-to-market work, and AI-native application infrastructure. The latest integration reflects a broader effort to support organisations that want to move AI-generated software into established production environments. For MongoDB, the partnership gives it a role in a growing category of software tools that use AI agents to generate and revise applications from text prompts. For Emergent, it addresses a practical issue for larger customers that already run production workloads on MongoDB Atlas and want new applications to sit alongside them. Pablo Stern, Chief Product Officer, AI and Emerging Products at MongoDB, said application development is changing as prompt-based creation becomes more common. "Applications increasingly start as a prompt, and Emergent is one of the clearest examples of what that looks like at scale," Stern said. "Their agents have been building on MongoDB from day one. Now teams that already run MongoDB Atlas can use Emergent directly, so the data layer they trust follows them from the first prompt through production," he said. The integration is now available to Emergent Pro and Enterprise customers. More than 12 million applications have been built on the platform, according to Emergent.
MongoDB launches Atlas Infinite for AI-Scale Demand, and MongoDB 9.0, the best version ever built. MongoDB | Published 1 Oct 2026 COMPANY NEWS: Atlas Infinite, now in Public Preview, is a new deployment option within Atlas built for extreme elasticity, absorbing unpredictable demand spikes in real time, cutting time to scale by more than 96%. MongoDB 9.0, generally available today, delivers up to 2x higher throughput, 35% faster reads, and 30% faster updates. MongoDB, Inc. today announced MongoDB 9.0, the best version of MongoDB ever built, and Atlas Infinite, the largest architectural innovation to MongoDB Atlas since its inception in 2016, at its Investor Day at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City. MongoDB 9.0 is the next-generation engine underpinning MongoDB Atlas, the company's fully-managed cloud data platform, Enterprise Advanced, and Community Edition, delivering superior performance wherever a customer's data lives. Atlas Infinite extends that foundation with the elasticity modern applications and AI agents demand, making MongoDB the intelligent data platform for the AI era. "Balancing MongoDB's data model flexibility with true elasticity has helped Okta avoid over-provisioning capacity," said Andrew Yu, VP of Engineering, Okta. "Atlas Infinite will help empower our teams to automatically scale with unpredictable authentication traffic in real time without paying for idle resources, improving efficiency across our identity platforms." MongoDB 9.0 is generally available today, and Atlas Infinite is available in public preview. Teams can get started with Atlas for free at mongodb.com/atlas. Enterprises face two distinct constraints as AI adoption increases: databases that cannot keep pace with rising performance and security requirements, and infrastructure that can't scale to match them. MongoDB already handles some of the industry's most demanding mission-critical workloads. 9.0 raises that bar again on performance and security. Atlas Infinite addresses the second constraint, scaling from prototype to petabyte on a single foundation, with no application changes needed to adopt. Both releases extend gains to the same real-time, mission-critical workloads that over 75% of Fortune 100 already run on MongoDB today. "The growing use of AI agents is causing applications to use and store more data," said Ben Cefalo, Chief Product Officer, Core Products, MongoDB. "MongoDB 9.0 hardens the foundation that more than 70,000 customers already trust with extreme performance, making it significantly faster at scale for mission-critical transactional workloads and AI-powered applications. Meanwhile, Atlas Infinite delivers the elasticity, responsiveness, and accuracy that agentic workloads demand, so enterprises never have to stretch legacy architecture to keep up." MongoDB 9.0: the best version of MongoDB ever. Generally available today, MongoDB 9.0, the best-performing version of the world's most popular document database, strengthens the foundation customers already run on, with major gains in performance, security, and scalability. Performance and scale. AI agents and modern applications increasingly generate more data and spikier, harder-to-predict traffic. That puts direct pressure on infrastructure costs and application responsiveness. Combined with the price-performance gains of Atlas Gen2 compute, MongoDB 9.0 delivers better performance at a better cost, with: * Up to 35% faster find-one queries * Up to 30% faster update-one queries * Up to 2x throughput on large instances * Up to 20% higher throughput for transactional workloads *Benchmark data compared to MongoDB 8.0 Security. Regulated industries need to secure sensitive data without losing the ability to search and use it. MongoDB 9.0 expands industry-first Queryable Encryption with support for prefix, suffix, and substring searches on encrypted data, allowing organisations to query sensitive information without ever decrypting it. Expanded private networking capabilities make it easier to deploy MongoDB Atlas securely across complex enterprise environments. Resilience and Observability. Traffic spikes and operational disruptions can take critical applications down at the worst possible moment. Intelligent Workload Management automatically protects database clusters when they are overloaded with requests and ensures short-running operations continue even when demand is unpredictable. Enhanced backup, restore, and recovery capabilities help organisations maintain application availability and speed recovery when disruptions occur. MongoDB 9.0 also expands observability with enhanced OpenTelemetry support, providing deeper visibility into application and database performance. "At Coinbase, trading volume can spike in minutes, and our systems have to scale in real time, or customers feel it," said Krishnan Seshadrinathan, VP of Engineering at Coinbase. "Intelligent Workload Management gives us confidence that our clusters will stay responsive during peak trading windows." Atlas Infinite: from prototype to petabyte. MongoDB CTO Jim Scharf unveiling Atlas Infinite at MongoDB.local NYC Development and demand keep accelerating, and AI agents are amplifying that trend. Traffic spikes without warning too, from a fintech transaction surge to a viral product launch. Atlas Infinite, now available in Public Preview, is MongoDB Atlas's largest architectural innovation ever. It separates compute from storage so each can scale independently, giving any workload, agentic or not, the elasticity, responsiveness, and retrieval accuracy they demand on real-time operational data. Extreme elasticity, zero waste. Thousands of AI agents can flood an enterprise's system with reads and writes in an instant. Atlas Infinite absorbs these spikes with no guesswork, scaling on an organisation's terms, when it needs more performance, not when it runs out of room. PicPay, a Brazilian fintech company, put that to the test, sustaining 4x its normal peak traffic for two hours on Atlas Infinite with zero failures. "Atlas Infinite enables us to grow our data footprint with greater operational simplicity with its order-of-magnitude faster backups and decoupled storage architecture. For a platform that has to be ready for extreme traffic spikes, that's exactly the kind of scalability we need to handle more transactions, at greater speed," said Erick Schroder, Database Reliability Engineer at PicPay. Peak performance. Internal tests using MongoDB 9.0 show Atlas Infinite provides 189% more throughput per dollar than Atlas Core. Icon Solutions is using those performance gains to drive growth, processing up to 55% more transactions per second on Atlas Infinite, with zero application changes. MongoDB is renaming its current Atlas offering to Atlas Core. Atlas Core and Atlas Infinite are now two deployment options within the Atlas platform, and customers can use one or both depending on the types of workloads they're dealing with. Adopting Atlas Infinite requires no application code changes, no new system to learn, and no disruptive migration. It runs on the same drivers, APIs, and operational tooling Atlas customers already use today, with the same security posture, controls, and compliance certifications as Atlas Core. Atlas Infinite also introduces a new pricing model tied to actual compute and storage consumption, so customers pay for the capacity they use rather than the capacity they provision for peak demand. Atlas Infinite is available now in Public Preview on AWS, with support for other cloud providers and Atlas for Government currently planned for the future. Log in or sign up for Atlas to try it. For a complete list of current Public Preview limitations, including cloud availability, see the Public Preview page here: [link]. MongoDB 9.0, Atlas Infinite, and Atlas Agent Engine, also announced today, build on each other: MongoDB 9.0 strengthens the foundation every MongoDB customer already runs on, Atlas Infinite removes limits on how that foundation can scale, and Atlas Agent Engine puts AI agents to work on top of both, governed and grounded in real-time data. Together with Voyage AI's industry-leading embedding and retrieval models, already generally available, this extends MongoDB's intelligent data platform for the AI era. About mongodb.
