Responsibilities
  • Direct all business development and marketing activities in the assigned region, including programs focused on hospice revenue, patient census, and partnering opportunities.
  • Develop and implement the strategic sales plan under the Regional Director of Business Development.
  • Contribute to the overall marketing plan and budget and manage implementation.
  • Develop and implement vacancy-coverage plans for sales territories.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to align business development activities with operational and clinical goals.
  • Accompany operations, clinical, and business development staff on customer calls, program and project implementations, and service recovery.
  • Maximize referral-closing opportunities to grow market share.
  • Track and analyze business development team market and performance trends to identify opportunities and improve weaknesses.
  • Maintain sales and marketing guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster relationships between business development, clinical, and operational teams to generate referral relationships.
  • Build centers of influence and network with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, independent senior buildings, physicians, community organizations, and other professionals to maximize revenue.
  • Create and implement reporting mechanisms for sales strategy and progress to the leadership team.
  • Promote relationship building, sales, and marketing efforts through public speaking engagements.
  • Represent the organization in professional organizations, conferences, trade shows, and related activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media, community leaders, churches, and other referral sources.
  • Identify and facilitate internal and external marketing-related events, including health fairs and community events.
  • Oversee assigned business development teams and provide support, training, and technical assistance toward customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and long-term account goals.
  • Manage the training process for business development teams, including Hospice Care Consultants, Liaisons, Managers, and Directors.
  • Direct and coach business development team members to meet or exceed sales, activity, conversion, admission, and growth goals.
  • Define, establish, and promote performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Create training programs and teach a repeatable sales process using needs-based selling, lead follow-up, sales advancement, and objection handling.
  • Direct and oversee consistent use of the customer relationship management system to document, develop, and maximize the database.
  • Hold business development teams accountable by providing tools, following up on expected results, and maintaining policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Analyze accounts and markets to determine changing sales potential and ensure teams adapt to market needs.
  • Create a culture of growth and development on the sales team to support retention.
  • Support operations on business development, regional goals, and company goals.
  • Contribute to annual sales-plan forecasting and regional business plans with regional leadership.
  • Communicate the organization's services and programs and make consultative recommendations to prospects and customers.
  • Identify cross-functional partnerships that enhance the business development process through a solution-based approach.
  • Provide customer-service support and training aligned with company values.
  • Participate in branch strategic planning to align sales and marketing with branch goals.
  • Ensure the referral-to-admission process is followed and implemented by all teams.
  • Maintain hospice policies and protocols.

Moments Hospice provides Medicare-certified in-home hospice and palliative care across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and select metros, delivering services wherever the patient calls home. It develops a joint, individualized care plan within seven days in collaboration with the patient, family, and treating facilities, and offers routine home care, continuous crisis care, general inpatient care, respite care, plus bereavement and spiritual support. The Moments Way centers on coordinating care with patients, families, and referral partners and uses a holistic approach to address physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Its goal is to improve quality of life for terminally ill patients, support families through grief, and raise the standard of hospice care, aided by the Moments Hospice Foundation that fulfills final wishes.
