Requirements
  • Comfort handling medical calls, including mental health and crisis intervention calls.
  • Ability to follow established protocols and procedures when speaking with patients and documenting calls.
  • Ability to accurately obtain demographic and health-related information and enter it into software programs.
  • Ability to direct callers appropriately to Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinicians.
  • Ability to notice and process patient injury reports using established procedures and software.
  • Ability to book and confirm patient appointments with Nurse Practitioners and physician practices.
  • Ability to perform minor technical troubleshooting of patient portals, including password resets and registration assistance.
  • Ability to monitor biometric alerts and contact patients to determine whether clinician follow-up is needed.
  • Ability to conduct customer service feedback surveys.
  • Minimum education level of a high school diploma.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous professional experience using computers and software programs.
  • Professional, respectful, and friendly approach.
  • Empathetic, patient, and compassionate demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to discuss a wide variety of medical situations, including mental health crises.

  • Fully open availability for a full-time schedule including mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and a rotating schedule of two weekends on and one weekend off.
  • Ability to supply a private home office, computer, second monitor, keyboard, mouse, USB headset, high-speed internet, and webcam; a PC is preferred and Chromebooks are not acceptable.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients calling with health-related concerns.
  • Obtain key patient demographics, open patient charts, and register patients for virtual care.
  • Document calls accurately for clinician follow-up.
  • Direct callers to appropriate nurses, nurse practitioners, or other clinicians.
  • Process patient injury reports according to established procedures.
  • Book and confirm appointments with nurse practitioners and physician practices.
  • Troubleshoot minor patient-portal issues.
  • Monitor biometric alerts and call patients regarding potential clinician follow-up.
  • Conduct customer service feedback surveys and patient follow-up calls.
Desired Qualifications
  • Office administration or medical office administration certificate or diploma.
  • Previous customer service or call center experience.
