Who you are:
We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Hardware Developer who will assist with selection, testing, certification, and design of modules and chipsets for wireless communication. What you’ll do:
As a Senior Hardware Developer your key area of responsibility will be to develop hardware specification, design schematic, printed circuit board (PCB), and prototype; verify and certify telematics/auxiliary devices.
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Develop hardware specification, design schematic, printed circuit board (PCB), and prototype; verify and certify telematics/auxiliary devices.
- Assist with selecting, testing, certifying, and designing modules and chipsets for wireless communication (e.g. LTE CAT-1, LTE CAT-M1).
- Assist with selecting, designing, and verifying GPS/GNSS module/chipsets for telematics devices.
- Assist with selecting, designing, and verifying WiFi/BT module/chipsets for telematics devices as well as RF-ID and near-field communication where applicable.
- Accountable for developing Geotab as an industry leader in designing and building wireless communication modules.
- Assist in managing external contract manufacturers worldwide.
- Lead the prototyping and testing of new hardware designs and troubleshoot hardware issues on the existing platforms.
- Utilize Git version management system with valid and descriptive comments.
What you’ll bring to this role:
- 5+ years experience in embedded hardware design or a similar role.
- Experience RF front end design (transmitter and receiver front end).
- Solid understanding of hardware peripherals, such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, SDIO, USB, depending on experience level.
- Experience with PCB EDA/CAD tools (e.g. Altium Designer).
- Experience with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, r and temperature chamber.
- Experience in signal integrity simulations is an asset.
- Solid knowledge of High speed digital design, depending on experience level.
- Experience with antenna design would be a plus.
- Experience with coexistence issues would be a plus.
- Experience with LTE, GNSS, WiFi/BT, NFC circuits would be a plus.
