Monogram creates a new way to interact with AI by replacing text chat with dynamic, visual mini-app interfaces. It offers a free iPhone app that, for each user query, instantly generates a custom interactive UI (like a calendar, option-tiles, or visual planners) that synthesizes data from multiple sources to guide tasks such as travel planning, recipes, or product comparisons. Unlike traditional chatbots, Monogram focuses on visual-first experiences to reduce cognitive load and make AI actions intuitive. Its goal is to establish a foundational AI user interface for personal computing, similar in impact to the mouse, web browser, or multi-touch screens.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Monogram launched June 30, 2026 with a $40 million seed from DST and Lux.
  • The June 2026 privacy policy shows active product shipping and Google Calendar integration.
  • Its early preview targets daily tasks like trips, recipes, and comparisons, broadening use frequency.

What critics are saying

  • OpenAI and Google now ship richer visual answers, shrinking Monogram's differentiation window.
  • Monogram's App Store privacy label collects location, contacts, identifiers, and usage data.
  • A free iPhone-only consumer app needs massive retention fast, or DST's seed becomes a dead-end.

What makes Monogram unique

  • Eren Bali gives Monogram founder-market credibility after Udemy and Carbon Health.
  • Monogram generates interactive visual interfaces in seconds, not static chatbot paragraphs.
  • Google Sign-In and Calendar integration make Monogram context-aware for scheduling and planning.

Monogram raises $40M seed to build visual AI interface beyond chatbots

Monogram, a startup building user interfaces for artificial general intelligence, has raised $40 million in seed funding led by DST Global and Lux Capital. The round included participation from Conviction, SOMA Capital, Gradient Ventures, e2vc, and Maxitech, alongside angel investors including Mistral AI co-founder Arthur Mensch, Lyft co-founder Logan Green, and Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan. Founded by Eren Bali, creator of Udemy and Carbon Health, alongside Edouard Tabet and Murat Akbal, Monogram believes artificial intelligence deserves better user experiences than chat interfaces. The startup responds to user queries through visual and interactive interfaces generated within seconds rather than text. For example, when users request a recipe, the app creates an interactive card with ingredients and steps. Monogram argues that whilst AI tools have become more powerful, users still communicate with them solely through text, similar to early command-line computers that only technical users could operate.
