Requirements
  • Respond appropriately to the special needs of each group served, including needs related to age, language, gender, culture, religion or spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, development or cognitive disabilities, and physical and developmental disabilities.
  • Follow diet extensions and portion control in accordance with planned menus and standardized recipes.
  • Follow sanitation policies for handling and storing food to minimize cross-contamination.
  • Satisfactorily work at the dish room station and record dishwasher temperatures.
  • Keep work and assignment areas clean, and properly store equipment, tools, and supplies before breaks and at the end of the workday.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment according to policy.
  • Complete assignments within the allotted time and adjust to changes and reassignments.
  • Follow established safety procedures for using personal protective equipment.
  • Have knowledge of Safety Data Sheets.
  • Maintain confidentiality of pertinent resident care information.
  • Be familiar with department and facility Performance Improvement Projects.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs.
Responsibilities
  • Aid in the orientation of new employees.
  • Set up and check resident trays accurately.
  • Prepare nourishments.
  • Set up tray line stations as assigned.
  • Prepare and serve palatable, appetizing meals.
  • Offer and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse foods served.
  • Set up beverage carts and other special events as assigned.
  • Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the Director of Food & Nutritional Services or designee, such as the Clinical Dietitian or Chef.
  • Report all accidents and incidents according to department policies.
  • Knock before entering a resident’s room.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
