Requirements
  • Education commensurate with certification requirements at the date of issue.
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
  • Current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation card from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
  • A Kansas driver’s license if the position requires driving.
  • Automobile insurance equal to or greater than Kansas insurance requirements if the position requires driving.
  • Perform acts within the scope of practice defined by the applicable certification board.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care as described in unit- or department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of occupational therapy principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform medium work, occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds and constantly exerting up to 10 pounds, with standing or walking 26–50% of the day.
Responsibilities
  • Assist occupational therapists with planning and conducting programs to help patients regain physical and mental stability.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of protected health information.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients or clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Accurately evaluate patient needs and implement, review, and maintain a comprehensive care plan.
  • Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients from newborn through geriatric age groups.
  • Educate patients on aspects of care.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation according to Health System or affiliate policy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
