About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on Java development or testing experience, with a demonstrable command of Java architecture.
  • A proven track record of hands-on pilots and proofs-of-concept and performance-related engagements measuring and demonstrating technical results in a customer environment.
  • Experience selling into large enterprises with complex, multi-stakeholder, mission-critical production environments.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related IT discipline.
  • Working knowledge of cloud and container technologies such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Solid knowledge of the sales process and customer relationship management; MEDDICC and Salesforce are preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Fluency in the territory's primary language and strong professional English.
  • Strong oral and written communication, including one-on-one and large-group communication.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges with minimal supervision.
  • Organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Professional and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to multitask across client challenges, meetings, and team needs, occasionally outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and understand multiple perspectives toward a common goal.

Responsibilities

  • Drive pre-sales engagements end to end, discovering prospect business and technical challenges, mapping Azul portfolio capabilities to those challenges, and validating solutions through demonstrations and hands-on proof.
  • Design, scope, and personally execute product pilots and proofs-of-concept in customer environments, installing and configuring the JVM, running representative workloads, and capturing empirical results.
  • Plan and run performance-focused engagements by establishing benchmarks and success criteria; measuring latency, throughput, garbage collection pause behavior, and resource efficiency; analyzing garbage collection and just-in-time compilation logs; tuning JVM settings; and quantifying improvements against incumbent solutions.
  • Coordinate technical validation across teams and environments in complex enterprise engagements involving large production estates, strict service-level agreements, security and compliance review, and long procurement cycles.
  • Deliver presentations and demonstrations to executives and hands-on developers, explaining complex topics clearly and communicating Azul's value to each audience.
  • Respond to solicited and unsolicited requests for information and requests for proposals by aligning Azul capabilities with detailed technical and business requirements.
  • Engage Product Management, Engineering, and the Chief Technology Officer's office as needed to remove technical blockers and secure opportunities.
  • Work with Account Executives on territory planning, pipeline generation, growing existing accounts, and enabling partners.
  • Nurture existing clients to promote customer success and create upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Present at conferences, workshops, and roadshows to raise awareness of the Azul portfolio and build funnel.
  • Provide expert assistance to other sales engineers on pilot planning and execution, run training sessions, and mentor onboarding sales engineers.
  • Advise the manager on product, territory, and team matters.

Desired Qualifications

  • A master's degree or higher in an information technology or business discipline.
  • Knowledge of MEDDICC and Salesforce.
