Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Five years of prior experience in customer service or a related area is required; manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commission, and percentages is required.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry is required.
  • Ability to analyze problems and solve them is required.
  • Organizational and planning skills are required.
  • Attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to build relationships with external and internal customers and proactively contact customers is required.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers, the direct sales team, and other departments to provide product and service information, quotes, order entry including will calls, order confirmations, invoice copies, customer complaint support, and order status and maintenance.
  • Receive, investigate, and respond to customer inquiries while prioritizing urgent matters.
  • Maintain knowledge of lead times, product information, pricing, shipping schedules, and other information to provide accurate and efficient service.
  • Record customer interactions and transactions in SAP and PC software systems, including details of inquiries, complaints, comments, and actions taken.
  • Set up new customers in SAP and work with the credit and collections department to process credit applications.
  • Maintain knowledge of company products and processes.
  • Maintain customer master files, including contact information, sold-to and ship-to details, shipping terms, pricing, and customer-specific text requirements.
  • Assist the Credit department with invoice disputes and billing error resolutions.
  • Provide freight estimates as required and work with Operations on delivery and freight estimates to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Industry knowledge or experience is desired.
  • Customer service experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
  • Telephone contact and communication skills are an asset.
