Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in technology, consumer products, privacy, or related regulatory practice.
  • A law degree from an accredited law school and admission, or in-house eligibility, to practice law in New York.
  • Experience providing legal support to product, design, or engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Strong business communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, and ownership and accountability.
  • Comfort and fluency using artificial intelligence tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
  • Ability to identify and balance legal risks against business priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders and support shared legal processes.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with product, design, and engineering teams as an embedded legal advisor throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation and design through launch and commercialization.
  • Manage the intake, triage, and prioritization of day-to-day legal questions and requests from business stakeholders, including routing, responding, and escalating matters as needed.
  • Develop an understanding of the product, technology, and data practices to advise on new features, artificial-intelligence-driven functionality, and safety initiatives.
  • Advise product and design teams on compliance with domestic and international laws governing consumer-facing technology, including advertising, intellectual property, and consumer protection.
  • Partner with privacy counsel and cross-functional privacy teams on data protection, privacy-by-design reviews, and regulatory compliance affecting product features, data practices, and new market launches.
  • Collaborate with litigation, trust and safety, corporate affairs, and shared-services teams in response to regulatory inquiries, litigation, and company-wide initiatives.
  • Develop and manage user-facing legal policies and disclosures, including Terms of Use, content and community guidelines, and consumer-facing messaging.
  • Develop and manage continuous improvements to cross-functional legal workflows, including playbooks, training, templates, and artificial-intelligence-assisted processes.
  • Identify and assess legal and regulatory risks for new and evolving products, particularly artificial intelligence systems, under emerging global and U.S. state regulations.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements supporting product development, including technology licensing, software as a service, data and analytics, research, and vendor agreements.
  • Guide product launches into new markets by ensuring compliance with local legal requirements and coordinating with internal and external counsel.
  • Conduct legal research on novel issues affecting products and users.
  • Identify jurisdiction-specific risk, build scalable compliance frameworks, and develop practical solutions that support product development.

Tinder partners with Sam Altman's World for eye-scan verification to combat AI-driven romance scams

Tinder is partnering with World, formerly Worldcoin, to use eye-scanning technology to verify users are human amid rising concerns over AI-powered romance scams. Romance scammers netted over $300 million in 2020, according to the company. World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, uses a spherical device called "the Orb" to verify humanness through temporary memory that isn't stored. Following verification, users receive a badge proving they're real, which Tinder says will lead to higher-quality connections. Verified users will also receive five free "Boosts" for a limited time. The verification system launched as a pilot in Japan through Tinder's parent company Match Group and will expand to US users.
