Requirements
  • Maintain safe work methods and recognize hazards in routine and non-routine tasks.

  • Perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, proportions, percentages, and measurements.

  • Be available for emergency response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergency calls.
  • Stand, sit, walk on varied surfaces, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric tools and equipment.
  • Work in outside weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, high places, tight spaces, and environments with fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moderate to high noise.
  • Work in and around water and from boats.
  • Wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair highway structures, including concrete, structural steel, welding, expansion joints, carpentry, and painting.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices, including cones, message and arrow boards, and temporary signage, to create safe Maintenance of Traffic control.
  • Work from bucket trucks, snooper trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platform lifts.
  • Repair and maintain bridge and culvert slopes, berms, drains, and related features using shovels and hand or power tools and equipment.
  • Control vegetation appearance and growth using lawn-mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, chemical sprayers, and other methods.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of bridge fender systems, including navigational signs, lighting, and structural fender components.
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites by operating large trucks, specialized motor vehicles, and trailers.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of work experience in construction, maintenance, and repair.
  • Previous experience leading a crew.
  • Commercial Driver’s License, Department of Transportation certifications, and electrical and welding certifications.
