About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least five years of experience in a hospitality, medical receptionist, or Medical Assistant role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, and electronic health record systems.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA compliance standards.
- Ability to remain composed in fast-paced and emergency situations.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and high-quality service delivery.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, or reach; frequently use hands and fingers for patient care and equipment operation; and respond quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment. Normal or corrected vision and hearing are required.
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and provide a concierge-style experience.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out in the electronic health record system, verify insurance, and collect copayments.
- Schedule patient appointments, testing appointments, and follow-ups in collaboration with providers and according to their requests.
- Submit and track prior authorizations across multiple platforms, including submitting required documentation.
- Answer high-volume incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries courteously and accurately.
- Maintain current, HIPAA-compliant records in the electronic health record system.
- Keep the front office clean, organized, and stocked with necessary forms and supplies.
- Follow emergency response protocols calmly and alert clinical staff as needed.
- Contribute to onboarding and training new team members to build support and cross-functional skills.
- Provide support at nearby locations within San Diego County as needed.
- Experience with insurance verification, scheduling, and electronic health records.
- Prior experience in allergy, immunology, or respiratory care settings.
- Comfort handling a high volume of patients by phone and face to face.
- Experience submitting and managing insurance prior authorizations.
- Experience handling patient referrals.
