- Fluency in Tagalog, Thai, or Vietnamese, spoken and written.
- Current student or recent graduate status.
- Participate in outreach activities throughout New York City, including events, tabling, and community partner engagement.
- Provide Tagalog, Thai, or Vietnamese to English translation and interpretation during client meetings and workshops as needed.
- Assist Business Advisors with client intake, scheduling, and follow-ups.
- Support preparation of loan application packages by gathering documentation, organizing files, and ensuring completeness.
- Maintain accurate client records in Salesforce and assist with data entry and reporting.
- Develop and distribute workshop and marketing materials on financial literacy, digital marketing, and business planning.
- Conduct basic market research and collect community resource information to strengthen services.
- Shadow Business Advisors to gain hands-on learning in counseling, small business operations, and loan processing.
- Current student or recent graduate in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Interest in economic development, community impact, entrepreneurship, and small business finance.
- Experience with Salesforce or another customer relationship management system.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a mission-driven team.
Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is a community development organization with 50 years of history. It builds and manages affordable housing, provides a range of community services, and supports entrepreneurs. AAFE’s work combines housing development, social services, and small business assistance to strengthen neighborhoods and empower residents. Housing projects involve planning, securing funding, and managing properties to keep rents affordable for low- and moderate-income families. Community services can include education, youth programs, health outreach, and referrals, while entrepreneurial support helps aspiring and existing business owners start, grow, or sustain ventures through training, resources, and access to networks. The organization’s goal is to improve neighborhood stability and economic opportunity for Asian Americans and broader communities by delivering long-term, community-focused programs rather than short-term fixes.
