Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of industry-related professional experience and education.
  • Two to five years of hands-on Oracle Retail Xstore POS development, Oracle databases, Oracle EFT Link, and knowledge of the RTLog generator and Xenvironment.
  • Two to five years of experience with deal and promotion engines.
  • Two to five years of deep expertise in Java 11, Java Enterprise Edition, and SQL databases including Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Three to five years of experience with Spring and related frameworks, and peripheral integrations such as receipt printers, scanners, and PIN pads in Xstore POS.
  • Two to five years of proven experience with payment integrations such as Verifone, ACI, Adyen, and Worldpay.
  • Two to three years of experience with Oracle Xmobile and Thin Client architectures, along with Android development experience in a retail domain.
  • Experience realizing applications from conception and design through implementation and support.
  • Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience with application lifecycle methodologies such as Agile and iterative methodologies.
  • Experience in analysis, design, and programming.
  • Experience with appropriate database technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements gathering, solution architecture, system design, development, implementation, and post-production support for highly scalable, high-volume retail software.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL with relational databases such as Oracle 19c and PostgreSQL.
  • A strong engineering background in retail-specific logic, including custom deal and promotion engines, loyalty programs, and direct payment integrations such as ACI, Verifone, and Worldpay.
  • Hands-on development and configuration expertise in Oracle Retail Xstore POS, Xenvironment, ACI, and the RTLog generator, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex POS application issues.
  • The ability to understand and communicate the business impact of technical issues.
  • The ability to collaborate with project teams on application and module design that achieves performance, scalability, and availability quality attributes.
Responsibilities
  • Write and maintain code within applications and systems to implement capabilities and features, improve performance and maintainability, and reduce technical debt in alignment with product and technology roadmaps.
  • Work with Product Management and business partners to understand customer and end-user challenges and partner with them to design viable solutions.
  • Advise on viable solutions involving processes, technology, and interfaces that improve team effectiveness and reduce technical debt.
  • Forecast capacity requirements for component usage and identify limitations.
  • Provide input into story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning.
  • Contribute to product and solution designs that address critical issues and complex problems.
  • Build software applications across multiple platforms in response to stakeholder needs.
  • Understand technical architecture and write software and automated tests aligned with agreed-upon standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting efforts and investigations when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
  • Work with less experienced software engineers by providing technical guidance and oversight.
  • Participate in the engineering community, stay up to date on new software technologies and best practices, and share insights with others in the organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency with source code management tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience in data integration projects or hands-on experience with extract, transform, and load data points.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks and performance tuning in high-volume retail systems.
