Requirements
  • A BA or BS in a scientific discipline related to pharmaceuticals, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Animal Science.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical clinical development process associated with FDA regulations.
  • Knowledge of clinical and commercial unmet needs across a variety of therapeutic areas.
  • An existing network of contacts within the pharmaceutical industry that can be leveraged to develop new business opportunity leads.
  • Strong multitasking skills to manage leads at varying stages of development.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, primarily in North America.
Responsibilities
  • Build and leverage an existing network and industry contacts to continuously identify new business opportunities.
  • Use available databases to scout new leads and recommend promising new databases and resources to the team when appropriate.
  • Present Mitsubishi Tanabe as a preferred partner to potential leads in an effective and persuasive manner.
  • Screen, identify, and conduct initial scientific evaluations of new business opportunities while working with United States and global business development colleagues.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to conduct business and scientific analyses with marketing, sales, legal, research and development, chemistry, manufacturing, and controls, and other functions.
  • Support the partnering process, including participation in initial partnership, licensing, and acquisition negotiations.
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development and transition mature leads to other colleagues while pursuing new leads to maintain a steady business pipeline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced science degree, such as a Master's, PhD, or MD.
  • Five years of experience specifically in business development or product evaluation and investment identifying potential business opportunities.
  • A strong scientific background with research and development or project management experience.
  • Knowledge of the central nervous system therapeutic area and movement disorders in particular.
