Requirements
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience with a strong track record of architecting and shipping production machine learning systems.
  • Experience designing infrastructure, including training pipelines, evaluation systems, and serving architecture, that enables an entire team to scale machine learning output and quality.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Linux environments.
  • Deep hands-on experience with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
  • Deep fundamentals in machine learning, including understanding algorithms under the hood.
  • Experience training, fine-tuning, and evaluating models on large-scale datasets, with command of data preprocessing, cleaning, and feature engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of recent developments in generative artificial intelligence, diffusion models, and large language models, with judgment about which advances to adopt.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining artificial intelligence models in cloud-based production environments at scale.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Mathematics, artificial intelligence/machine learning, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Architect the machine learning systems behind Arcade's generative platform, including pipelines, training infrastructure, and serving systems for diffusion models, large language models, and emerging generative architectures at production scale.
  • Identify high-leverage architectural changes that scale machine learning operations and improve model output and quality, and lead them from design through production.
  • Design measurement systems for evaluation and quality so engineering decisions are based on defensible data rather than one-off benchmarks.
  • Train, fine-tune, and deploy diffusion and text-to-image models and large-language-model-based applications, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval, and multi-component workflows.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain models in cloud-based production environments, engineering scalability, latency, and cost intentionally.
  • Design systems to collect, clean, and analyze large-scale datasets that improve model performance and reliability over time.
  • Stay current with developments in generative artificial intelligence, evaluate potential technologies, and translate worthwhile advances into production pipelines.
  • Establish technical patterns and standards for the AI team and mentor engineers as the team scales.
  • Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical partners across engineering, product, and design.
Desired Qualifications
  • Production experience with text-to-image or diffusion systems.
  • Experience building machine learning platforms or infrastructure at scale, including distributed training, model serving, and evaluation or observability tooling.
  • A track record of technical leadership demonstrated by patterns and systems that other engineers built upon.

Arcade Studio runs a marketplace where dreamers design custom physical products with generative AI and makers manufacture them through a vetted global network. Dreamers submit prompts; the AI selects materials, picks a maker, and sets a price. The platform takes a percentage of each sale and offers an entrepreneur program for creators to launch product lines without inventory or logistics. Starting with jewelry and expanding to home goods, features like Magic Match generate designs from room photos to match spaces.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • 650,000 jewelry designs in three months signaled strong consumer demand by December 2024.
  • March 2025’s $25 million Series A from Canaan and Forerunner funded expansion.
  • 2026 focus on jewelry and home decor deepens assortment without inventory risk.

What critics are saying

  • Arcade depends on OpenAI, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion for core creation workflows.
  • Custom manufacturing across global makers invites delays, defects, and refund costs that crush margins.
  • If novelty fades before repeat purchasing, Arcade becomes an expensive design toy, not a marketplace.

What makes Arcade Studio unique

  • Mariam Naficy brought Minted’s marketplace playbook to Arcade’s September 2024 launch.
  • Arcade turns prompts into manufacturable products, pairing AI designs with vetted artisans.
  • March 2025 rugs and Match My Room extend the same workflow beyond jewelry.

Arcade secures $42M for AI-designed jewelry

Arcade, founded by Mariam Naficy, has secured $42 million in funding from investors like LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. The platform combines generative AI with physical manufacturing, allowing users to design custom jewelry and home decor by inputting text or images. Arcade's AI generates 3D design sketches, which are then crafted by artisans. The platform supports various jewelry types and materials, with prices starting at $100. Arcade plans to expand into ceramics, cushions, and potentially clothing.
