Requirements
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse crew in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of and willingness to learn safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and box cutter safety.
  • Ability to learn and use various systems, including the point-of-sale register system.
  • Ability to learn and safely use a power jack, walk-behind lift, WAV, baler, and compactor.
  • Ability to stand in place for long periods, walk throughout the store, and bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
  • Full upper-body range of motion to lift products and perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods.
  • Functional sensory abilities to visually monitor the store, create displays, and operate equipment.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and humidity levels, including freezers, coolers, and receiving areas.
  • Regular and timely attendance in accordance with the work schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Complete product rotation using the first-in, first-out method, verify that products are in date, and display items according to planograms.
  • Provide helpful guest service by greeting guests, acknowledging them, and responding to their needs across departments.
  • Unload product deliveries from pallets and maintain organized stock rooms across multiple departments.
  • Maintain proper product presentation on shelves, in cases, and throughout the store.
  • Observe sales-floor conditions and take immediate action to address areas needing improvement.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels, ensure pricing accuracy, and keep advertised items in stock.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Center Store leadership and associates to uphold standards and meet guest expectations.
  • Provide cashier support at the register and assist with store-closing procedures when needed.
  • Help guests locate items, suggest products, and provide alternatives when necessary.
  • Address guest concerns about products or service and resolve issues promptly.
  • Organize, sanitize, and maintain clean departments, shelves, work areas, and sales floors.
  • Provide adequate notice and arrange replacements for occasional absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schnuck Markets Acquires Festival Foods

Schnuck Markets, Inc. has acquired 100% of the shares of Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers, Inc. through the 1939 Group, Inc., owned by the Schnuck family. The acquisition includes shares from CEO Mark Skogen and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The 1939 Group will maintain the existing store banners and corporate headquarters, with Todd Schnuck as Chairman and CEO. The transaction is expected to close in October, subject to customary approvals.
