About the Job

Requirements

  • Experience with prototyping and implementation.
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing industrial control panels or electrical systems for automated equipment.
  • Experience with ECAD tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Recent execution of a panel design in EPLAN, within the last 5 years.
  • Experience designing wiring harnesses and specifying industrial connectors.
  • Experience working with programmable logic controllers, industrial sensors, and motor drives.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, UL 508A standards for industrial control panels, and NFPA 79 for industrial machinery.
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning and troubleshooting in production or warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design industrial control panels using EPLAN and select and specify components, including programmable logic controllers, industrial PCs, motor drives, sensors, and safety devices, to meet system requirements.
  • Research, evaluate, and select sensors, actuators, motors, and other electrical components for automation systems to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Perform system-level electrical design and integration so electrical subsystems work cohesively with mechanical and software components across the automation platform.
  • Create wiring harness designs and electrical documentation, including connector specifications, wire routing, cable management, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials for prototype and production systems.
  • Build, assemble, and test prototype wiring harnesses and control panels in the lab; conduct electrical validation using standard equipment and iterate based on test results.
  • Assist with field deployment and troubleshooting as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, Profinet, and CANopen.
  • Experience with safety system design, including safety programmable logic controllers, safety-rated devices, and risk assessment per ISO 13849 or IEC 62443.
  • Experience building prototype wiring harnesses and control panels.
  • Experience with industrial PCs and embedded computing platforms in industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of servo systems, variable-frequency drives, and motion control applications.
  • Experience with signal conditioning and signal interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility and radiated or conducted noise mitigation.
  • Experience scaling a design to volume manufacturing.

Amazon

Sells products online and rents cloud computing

Amazon runs the largest online store in the United States and rents cloud computing to businesses and governments through Amazon Web Services. AWS pioneered renting computing power over the internet, and Amazon built its own delivery network to get orders to customers quickly. Shoppers buy from Amazon and from independent sellers on its store, and Prime members pay a subscription for fast free shipping, streaming video and music, and other perks. AWS rents out computing power, storage, databases, and AI tools so companies can run software without owning servers, and Amazon also makes Kindle e-readers and Echo speakers with the Alexa assistant. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, and it is based in Seattle, Washington.
