Requirements
  • Must hold Industrial/Maintenance Electrician certification 422A and/or 309A.
  • Must have strong electrical knowledge and experience with balanced mechanical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to read technical drawings, procedures, and electrical schematics.
  • Must demonstrate effective training and mentoring ability.
  • Must have exceptional utilization of computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Must demonstrate strong time-management and organizational skills, initiative, willingness to learn, ownership, and grit for technical work.
  • Must demonstrate humility and respect in a changing environment and protect the company's core values.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and lead maintenance staff in daily scheduling, preventative maintenance, repairs of production equipment, and resolution of equipment-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team, Planner, and Parts Clerk to maintain equipment and parts inventory, minimize downtime, and organize the Maintenance Workshop.
  • Conduct major equipment repairs, overhauls, and rebuilding to ensure equipment is operational and safe within schedule requirements.
  • Ensure staff are trained in health and safety standards and proper environmental practices.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system and provide feedback to improve the maintenance strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a continuous-improvement mindset among technicians.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, and repair food-processing equipment and machinery.
  • Lead compliance with health, safety, food-safety, GMP, CFIA, and BRC practices and support audits and inspections.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on complicated or recurring automation failures, including risk analysis, evaluation of potential causes, and assessment of data.
  • Coordinate equipment setup and changeovers and perform documented preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Assist with facilities renovation and maintenance as necessary.
  • Test and observe equipment and machinery using tools such as sonoscopes, voltmeters, and other testing devices to troubleshoot malfunctions and make repairs.
  • Prepare notes on learnings, contribute to procedures and training materials, and share observations with the maintenance team.
  • Contribute to maintenance reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  • Respond to emergency repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Record maintenance and repair services and track materials and parts used.
  • Mentor, train, and guide junior and other maintenance technicians.
  • Suggest and implement continuous-improvement projects to improve equipment performance.
  • Technically assist with troubleshooting and implement improvements to mitigate repeat plant issues.
  • Perform technical and non-technical component monitoring, inspection, repairs, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance.
  • Identify deficiencies, record and escalate them, and maintain related preventative-maintenance documentation.
  • Identify skills, knowledge, and core-value gaps within the maintenance team and take appropriate corrective steps.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Work day, afternoon, and night shifts temporarily as needed for coverage.
  • Collaborate with the Planner to provide feedback, schedule, and prioritize work orders.
  • Ensure maintenance and service work is completed according to requirements and food-building compliance.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement projects.
  • Contribute to performance assessments of other technicians.
  • Coordinate and facilitate efficient pre-shift and handover meetings between shifts.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working experience with vertical wrappers, horizontal wrappers, robotic pickers and placers, and tunnel ovens.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition, robotics, human-machine interfaces, and controls, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens programmable logic controllers.
  • Hands-on experience with power transmission systems; electric and electronic controls; pneumatic and hydraulic systems; welding, brazing, and soldering; servo and electric motors; lubrication types and systems; and machining using lathes, milling machines, and drill presses.
  • Rigging and hoisting experience.
