Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings for the dealership group.
  • Review and approve financial statements, schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and dealership accounting best practices, and prepare for public-company reporting.
  • Maintain financial reporting packages, including site reports, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Coordinate and resolve complex accounting issues, including revenue cutoff, reserves, impairments, and lease accounting.
  • Lead the corporate accounting function across all dealership locations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Directly manage the Accounting Manager by setting close milestones, review checkpoints, and quality standards.
  • Define roles, segregation of duties, and coverage plans across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Build and strengthen the accounting team as the company scales toward initial public offering readiness.
  • Coach the team on dealership-specific topics, including deal posting and warranty reserves, and on public-company expectations.
  • Establish measurable goals and oversee performance reviews.
  • Oversee the accuracy of RV sales postings, trades, finance and insurance products, chargebacks, product remittances, and document and title fees.
  • Monitor parts and service margins, work in process, open and aged repair orders, warranty claims, core returns, and obsolescence reserves.
  • Oversee physical and cycle inventory counts, aged inventory reviews, lower-of-cost-or-market valuation adjustments, and negative-equity impacts.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal control frameworks appropriate for a pre-initial-public-offering organization.
  • Build Sarbanes-Oxley-compliant processes, documentation, and control testing ahead of Securities and Exchange Commission readiness.
  • Enforce cash-handling controls, deal-jacket completeness, user-access reviews, three-way matching for accounts payable, and bank-reconciliation standards.
  • Manage annual financial statement audits, progressing to Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards before the initial public offering, and coordinate prepared-by-client lists and audit readiness.
  • Oversee sales and use tax, property tax, personal property tax, and franchise tax, and coordinate income tax with the external certified public accountant firm.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer with debt compliance, banking relationships, covenant reporting, and interest-expense forecasting.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer on the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and scenario modeling.
  • Create standardized variance analyses with operational drivers and lead margin-improvement and expense-control initiatives.
  • Support store general managers and department heads with actionable insights and coaching on financial drivers.
  • Create and maintain an Accounting Policy Manual and dealership standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee enterprise resource planning integrity, chart-of-accounts governance, and master data.
  • Lead system improvements and integrations, including bank feeds, accounts-payable automation, reconciliation tools, and fixed-asset and lease modules.
  • Lead the company through the initial-public-offering readiness roadmap, including building a public-company finance organization, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting infrastructure, Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, public-company governance, and board development.
  • Build capabilities for S-1 support, segment reporting, earnings per share, management discussion and analysis inputs, and disclosure controls and procedures.
  • Map key processes, define key controls and testing cadence, establish remediation service-level agreements, and coordinate with external Sarbanes-Oxley advisors.
  • Sequence hiring of a Manager of Securities and Exchange Commission Reporting or Sarbanes-Oxley Manager, Tax Manager, and Internal Audit Manager by 2028.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior dealership accounting experience in automotive, recreational vehicle, powersports, marine, or similar businesses is preferred.
  • Multi-store accounting experience is preferred.
  • Public-company, Sarbanes-Oxley, initial-public-offering readiness, or Public Company Accounting Oversight Board audit experience is a plus but not required.
  • A Master of Business Administration is strongly preferred.
