Requirements
  • Multi-species auditing is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience and/or training in animal production or welfare is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Active PAACO certification in poultry or swine, or progress toward obtaining certification, is required.
  • Exposure to animal welfare or animal husbandry is required.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Working knowledge of livestock handling tools is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge in at least one animal species is required.
  • Ability to travel 60-80% for on-site audits is required.
Responsibilities
  • Learn audit tools and procedures for one species while developing cross-species skills and knowledge of other animal welfare sectors.
  • Conduct audits at assigned facilities.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in audits and audit reports.
  • Communicate with clients in preparation for audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to procedures established by FACTA and its auditing clients.
  • Follow required protocols and procedures, including submitting detailed time and expense reports by firm deadlines.
  • Schedule travel associated with audits.
  • Meet required timelines for audit reports.
  • Communicate with management, producers, and others as needed.
  • Work independently in a timely manner without direct oversight.
  • Use computer systems involved in the audit-report process.
  • Apply communication, listening, and problem-solving skills, ask questions, and escalate risks and issues beyond personal experience or skill set.
  • Comply with firm practice-management procedures and systems.
  • Complete audit procedures that obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
  • Maintain professional skepticism, including consideration of alternative and disconfirming evidence.
  • Complete tasks and deliverables to a high-quality standard.
  • Keep senior team members informed of significant developments and progress on engagements.
  • Assist with updating training programs and audit documents annually under the supervision of other team members.
  • Attend industry conferences with experienced auditors and directors and speak with current and prospective clients.
