Requirements
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Critical Care.
  • A current New York State physician license.
Responsibilities
  • Cover a 20-bed pediatric floor as the attending physician on a resident-staffed teaching service.
  • Provide 24/7 in-house coverage through 12-hour shifts.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of residents in training during Critical Care rotations.
  • Participate in teaching residents and medical students through lectures, precepting, and small-group teaching.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to medical students and trainees enrolled in the Pediatric residency and fellowship programs.
  • Participate in continuing medical education programs as appropriate.
  • Assist in developing research and performance-improvement initiatives established by the Chair of the Department.
  • Maintain high standards and quality of care for patients.
  • Promote high-quality, cost-effective care based on the best medical evidence.
  • Participate in data collection to assess patient care and satisfaction studies.
  • Keep current with developments in pediatrics and medical management through continuing medical education programs, medical-literature review, and medical-staff conferences.
