Requirements
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in an analytical or information specialist role within an academic, nonprofit, corporate, or consulting setting.
  • Experience designing business intelligence solutions using Salesforce Lightning, CRM-A, and Tableau.
  • Aptitude for applying data visualization to uncover trends, realize insights, explore sources, and communicate findings.
  • Analytical acumen to interpret and manage data.
  • Experience with statistical programs, data mining, and comprehensive analysis.
  • Prior business or technical staff management experience involving delegation, planning, and mentoring.
  • Staff management or high-level project management experience.
  • Ability to plan and set meaningful objectives, promote goals, and implement strategic plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and manage teams in a customer-service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for identifying and articulating business challenges, project objectives, and analytical approaches.
  • Organizational skills to handle several projects simultaneously, accommodate shifting priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.

Responsibilities
  • Develop business intelligence and analytical solutions.
  • Use Salesforce Lightning, CRM-A, Tableau, and predictive modeling tools such as R or SAS to analyze and communicate complex data and information.
  • Conduct high-quality data analysis by analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing information, and prepare data presentations to support analytics, prospect research, prospect management, and strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain proficiency in advanced analytic and database tools, internet resources, in-house data, and other references.
  • Ensure consistent presentation, quality assurance, and best practices across analysts’ products.
  • Recruit, mentor, and direct the development of Business Intelligence Analysts, including setting performance standards and measures and providing training, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Foster teamwork and cross-functional communication and collaboration among direct reports, DS&I staff, and other Advancement and University groups.
  • Oversee project management for business intelligence projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics Director to determine strategy, priorities, and assignments for departmental efforts.
  • Interact with Advancement staff to initiate and execute requests.
  • Provide an effective and efficient business intelligence structure and environment for University Advancement.
  • Review and recommend new technologies, vendor services, and information sources while monitoring relevant industry trends.
  • Conceive of and contribute to strategies and best practices for maintaining a comprehensive, reliable, and innovative data environment with data warehousing team members.
  • Work with business users to define desired outcomes and business requirements for analyses and dashboards.
  • Conduct end-user training in business intelligence tools as needed.
  • Identify critical process-improvement areas and collaborate on procedures and solutions to enhance customer service.
  • Ensure data quality by identifying and communicating appropriate changes and updates to the Alumni and Donor Records department.
  • Participate in department projects and initiatives and assist with special projects while meeting project deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Understanding of cloud data warehousing and experience with extract, transform, load tools such as Matillion and Snowflake.
  • Experience with relational databases and data extraction tools such as SQL.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of philanthropy, including its mission, practice, and trends.
  • Knowledge of fundraising practices, including the development cycle, prospect management policies and practices, and engagement.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Princeton University, higher education, and the Office of Development’s goals and guiding principles.
  • Sense of humor.
