The Role
As Flock continues to introduce new products and customer expectations of our products increase we have a growing need to increase the maturity, coverage, and velocity of our quality testing. This role seeks to expand the capabilities of our Device Quality Engineering Organization, where you will help build a highly scalable and stable test automation framework to test the Flock Safety cameras, software, and devices. In this role, you will help develop building blocks of automation tools, infrastructure, and tests that will test the devices for functionality, stability, and best performance. These tests will be used as part of Continuous Integration(CI), factory, and field testing. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the foundation of the framework/tests for many of Flock’s products.
How you’ll make an impact:
Help with development of components of automation framework, automation tools, and test scripts aligning to the overall test automation strategy that promotes Continuous Integration, software Performance/Stability, and Factory testing of Flock devices
Understand the architecture of Flock Safety devices and help enhance the device software/hardware quality and stability using test automation scripts
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for daily smoke, functional, performance, reliability, and stress scenarios in an automated fashion
Identify automation opportunities in manual test scenarios and implement automated tests
Analyze automation test results and log defects against software and hardware
We’re looking for people who:
Bring experience in software development and test automation experience with embedded systems devices.
Holds strong knowledge of common black box & white box software testing methodologies, tools, and processes
Have experience in testing hardware devices (both production and prototype).
Holds knowledge of Android Development tools such as Android Studios, and adb.
Hold a solid grasp on Kotlin, Java, Python 3.0, shell, and SQL/Database concepts.
Possess knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), software testing, software testing strategies and automation concepts
Are familiar with HW/SW architecture and interoperability of complex embedded systems such as mobile phones.
Have experience with automated test frameworks, like Pyunit or PyTest, Espresso, or other Android Test Automation Frameworks.
Have the ability to identify root causes for defects and provide meaningful feedback to development teams
Has experience doing test strategies and test planning.
Holds strong communication and interpersonal skills. Both verbal and written.
Have experience with common QA tools such as Tricentis, Jira and confluence.
Bonuses:
ISTQB Foundation Level Certification and Agile Tester Level Certification a huge plus

90 Days at Flock

The First 30 Days
Learn as much as possible about Flock’s devices, cloud systems, and customer requirements
Familiarize yourself with members of the Engineering Team
Understand Flock device product goals and system design
Set up development environment and start to contribute to test case development
The First 60 Days
Take increasing responsibility for product quality via automation for one of our devices and reducing new alarms/cases generated for the software/hardware.
Develop automated tests that will address the “low hanging fruits” for defects and help the engineering team fix the issues.
Create a funnel of automation test case candidates from manual test cases.
90 Days & Beyond
Propose ideas on how to expand our test coverage in the areas of CI, regression, and stability testing.
The Interview Process

Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.
The Technical Assessment: You will meet with a potential future coworker to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. You should expect the interview will cover the hard skills required to do the job, an architectural discussion, and an exploration of your past accomplishments and experiences. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. You will meet with several teammates and cross-functional partners. Engineers should expect a technical assessment through coding interviews or architecture discussions. Your recruiter will provide more details to ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet a leader within the Device Software team. They will be looking to get to know you better, understand your motivations, and understand your technical background. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $95,000-$130,000 as well as stock options
