Requirements
  • The candidate must be a current University of Pikeville student in good academic standing.
  • The candidate must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
  • The candidate should be pursuing or demonstrating a strong interest in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with Excel or basic accounting systems is helpful, and willingness to master QuickBooks is essential.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational abilities and a commitment to precision in data entry.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working independently on focused tasks and collaboratively within a mission-driven team.
  • The candidate must be able to clearly explain financial findings or documentation needs to non-financial staff.
  • The candidate should have an interest in financial systems within nonprofit operations and regional renewal.
  • The candidate must work a minimum of 80 hours during the semester and enroll concurrently in CVL 401: Integrated Internship Experience.
  • Upon hire, the intern must register for the Summer II Internship course.
  • The intern must complete course assignments concurrently with internship work.
  • Summer interns in this position cannot exceed 40 hours of work per week.
  • The position requires keyboarding.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately enter and categorize financial transactions in QuickBooks to ensure real-time tracking of organizational funds.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and prepare monthly financial reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Track specific program expenses and maintain supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness.
  • Organize and digitize receipts, invoices, and vital financial records to streamline office operations.
  • Participate in budgeting and financial planning processes to help align capital strategies with organizational goals.
  • Support payroll-related tracking and documentation while maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality regarding sensitive financial information.
  • Perform other administrative or financial duties as assigned to support FaithLife Appalachia's mission.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience with Excel or basic accounting systems is helpful.
