Requirements
  • 10+ years experience in government, government relations, or other advocacy/engagement roles at the state or local level.
  • Experience working in/with executive and legislative offices and with extensive knowledge of the legislative process.
  • Experience leading a portfolio of policy issues and coordinating policy-focused events.
  • The ability to travel extensively in the 50 states during the year and significant travel within your state territory. On average 2-5 trips per month during session.
  • Experience advocating before states on behalf of Members, corporations, trade associations, or any other interest groups and leading engagement with key member organizations and related nonprofits.
  • Knowledge of the policy issues relevant to Apple.
  • Understanding of complicated technology issues and the ability to simplify them for non-technical audiences is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to concisely summarize sophisticated issues and policies to create advocacy points and strategy.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous work environment.
  • Creative problem-solving history, ability to work collaboratively and under short timelines.
  • Excellent leadership skills and professional presence.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter and must enjoy a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement public policy initiatives and engagement strategies with state and local lobbyists.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key partners, as well as with industry trade associations, legislative and executive organizations and related nonprofit groups.
  • Effectively communicate policy priorities and provide feedback on policy initiatives.
  • Draft policy and background materials for relevant meetings and engagement.
