About the Company

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab

Non-profit rehabilitation hospital and research institute

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is a nonprofit hospital and research center that leads the field in physical medicine and rehabilitation. It combines patient care with biomedical research and outcomes science to treat difficult disabilities and advance rehabilitation practices for underserved populations. The center works through a team of experts in rehabilitation medicine, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, and outcomes research to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients, while developing new therapies, devices, and care pathways. Unlike typical hospitals, it integrates clinical care with ongoing research and real-world outcomes collection to improve treatments over time. Its goal is to advance the science and delivery of rehabilitation so people can regain function and independence, and to share findings widely to improve care beyond its own patients.
