About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, ECE, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, ideally within a startup or technology company.
  • Experience in analog circuit design, ADC/DAC, DC-DC converters, and controllers is required.
  • The candidate must have a solid understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuit designs.
  • The candidate must be able to design electrical schematics, including developing circuit architecture and selecting components to meet system requirements.
  • The candidate must be able to use simulation tools such as SPICE to analyze circuit performance.
  • The candidate must know components available from key vendors that could be used to implement circuit designs.
  • Employment is contingent upon being a U.S. person as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), due to access to export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and as part of a team, communicating with the manager, project engineer, and teammates, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Execute complex engineering tasks involving planning, preparation, data and information collection and analysis, and decision-making through peer reviews and documentation of results.
  • Ensure accurate execution schedules, data quality and integrity, conformance to company best practices, and clear communication and documentation.
  • Work independently and with a group of engineers on electrical designs.
  • Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.
  • Document design architecture and formal design synthesis, including analysis of design performance parameters.
  • Model and simulate electrical circuit performance.
  • Perform electrical schematic capture and maintain bills of materials.
  • Perform PCB layout and produce PCB CAM files.
  • Test and diagnose designs and verify design goals.
  • Participate in failure root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.
  • Prepare test plans to support test implementation and reporting.

Desired Qualifications

  • Design experience with RF components is a plus.
  • RF layout experience is a plus.
  • Experience with low-noise circuit design and testing is a plus.
  • Experience using Altium Designer is a plus.

About the Company

Monarch Quantum

Designs and manufactures quantum photonic subsystems

Monarch Quantum designs and manufactures Quantum Light Engines, integrated photonic subsystems that replace large laser systems with compact, factory-aligned modules. These modules handle state preparation, cooling, trapping, manipulation, and coherent control to prepare and measure quantum states for computing, sensing, and communications. They operate with a vertically integrated model in San Diego, combining in-house systems engineering, hybrid optical packaging, robotic assembly, and AI-driven manufacturing to enable design-to-volume production under one roof, reducing size, complexity, and integration risk. The company differentiates itself by offering ready-to-integrate modular photonic subsystems for architectures such as trapped-ion, neutral-atom, and photonics-based platforms, targeting hardware developers, system integrators, and OEMs to streamline quantum hardware development and scaling.
