Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture, or an equivalent qualification; five years of industry experience and a Project Management Professional or Certified Construction Manager certification may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • At least five years of experience as a Construction Project Engineer with progressive responsibility.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team to accomplish the project vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients.
  • Knowledge of the built-environment infrastructure, including buildings and infrastructure.
  • Experience as a Construction Project Manager encompassing the project or program life cycle from planning and design management through procurement, construction management, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Understanding of critical path method scheduling and the ability to direct a planner or scheduler in constructing a critical path method schedule.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management procedures.
  • Experience managing cash flows and budgets.
  • Experience managing project controls, including cost, schedule, budget, procurement, and document control.
  • Experience managing general contractors and trade subcontractors.
  • Ability to navigate and move around a construction site, including walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and standing for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment and perform tasks requiring coordination and manual skills.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to comply with safety protocols and enforce safety standards on the construction site.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the successful execution of assigned construction projects, including scope, schedule, financial requirements, and performance metrics.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and budget activities for specific construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental and Construction Quality Control policies.
  • Manage construction and design-build proposals, including planning, estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, technical and management approaches, past performance, and Health, Safety, and Environmental and quality compliance.
  • Prepare baseline performance plans and develop project metrics covering baseline costs, planned gross margin, baseline schedule, milestone dates, and projected cash flow.
  • Manage financial performance and reporting, including monthly forecasting, commitments, and incurred costs, and deliver projects at or above the as-bid gross profit.
  • Ensure safety performance through compliance with corporate policy and site-specific health and safety plans, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality performance by enforcing project roles and responsibilities, contract documents, and contractual and design requirements.
  • Manage client communications, keep the owner informed of project status and open issues, and support owner satisfaction with the finished project.
  • Manage the project team in prequalifying, selecting, and contracting design professionals; direct the design process and monitor design appropriateness, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage the project team in prequalifying, selecting, and subcontracting construction trade subcontractors and procuring vendor equipment.
  • Develop and implement project risk registers and change-order logs to identify, track, and mitigate risks.
  • Obtain necessary permits, environmental approvals, and licenses for project construction.
  • Manage and mentor the project team and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Ensure the project team partners with owners, supervisory personnel, contractors, and design professionals to resolve work procedures, requests for information, change control, and project issues.
  • Work and supervise construction activities in varying weather conditions while meeting the physical demands of the site.
  • Make decisions to address issues and challenges arising during construction.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Construction Manager certification from the Construction Management Association of America.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
