About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field is required.
  • At least 9 years of hands-on software engineering experience building, deploying, and supporting robust production applications is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Go, with sound software engineering, testing, data modeling, and system design practices, is required.
  • Experience translating complex business requirements into cloud-optimized application architectures, scalable data models, and technical specifications for production delivery is required.
  • Experience operating in a forward-deployed or internal client-facing engineering model is required, including workflow discovery, stakeholder engagement, rapid prototyping, solution shaping, pilot execution, adoption measurement, and production handoff to receiving teams.
  • Extensive experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is required, including serverless, containerization, managed services, automated deployment, monitoring, and cloud security standards.
  • Experience designing cloud-based AI solution architectures is required, integrating managed AI services, LLM providers, retrieval and vector search, secure data access, API gateways, event-driven workflows, identity and entitlement controls, observability, deployment automation, and cost and resilience trade-offs across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating LLM or AI/ML capabilities into production applications is required, including RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases or search indexes, prompt templates, context assembly, structured outputs, response validation, evaluation datasets, and model performance monitoring.
  • Ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders, lead cross-functional delivery, and enable receiving teams through documentation, mentoring, and knowledge transfer is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, build, deployment, and operationalization of cloud-native AI applications using modern software engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing to accelerate reliable delivery.
  • Partner with business and engineering teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities, translate requirements into cloud-optimized architectures, and define scalable data models and technical specifications.
  • Embed with The Core business teams to map workflows, identify pain points, assess agentic automation opportunities, define control and approval boundaries, iterate with users, and drive adoption through pilots, feedback loops, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build AI applications using LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, prompt and context management, structured outputs, response validation, and evaluation harnesses required for production use.
  • Apply cloud-native services, secure deployment patterns, observability, lifecycle management, and MLOps practices to ensure applications are scalable, resilient, cost-aware, and supportable.
  • Document solutions, mentor receiving teams, and support the transition of application code, integration patterns, data models, and operational practices into long-term engineering ownership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building agentic AI systems that decompose tasks, plan multi-step workflows, call approved tools or APIs, maintain state, enforce permission and policy checks, handle failure paths, and produce auditable action trails.
  • Experience implementing agent observability and controls, including trace capture, prompt and tool-call logging, hallucination and policy-violation checks, human-in-the-loop approvals, incident handoff, and post-action summarization.
  • Experience optimizing production AI systems through model selection and routing, prompt compression, retrieval tuning, caching, batching, streaming responses, asynchronous execution, parallel tool calls, latency budgets, cost controls, and quality regression testing.

About the company

Goldman Sachs advises companies and governments on mergers, raises money for them by selling their stocks and bonds, and trades securities for big investors such as hedge funds and pension funds. It led Ford Motor's 1956 stock market debut, then the largest share sale in US history. Traders buy and sell stocks, bonds, currencies, and commodities for clients and lend them money, while bankers earn a fee on each deal they advise on or arrange. Its asset and wealth management arm invests for institutions and wealthy families and charges fees based on the money it oversees. The firm was founded in 1869, when it began brokering short-term IOUs for New York merchants, and it is based in New York City.

What believers are saying

  • Trading drives the boom: stock-trading revenue hit a record $7.42 billion in the June 2026 quarter, up 72%.
  • Pay is climbing: compensation rose 20% to $11.5 billion in the first half of 2026, while staff grew 1%.
  • A Goldman stint opens doors: alumni Rishi Sunak, Mario Draghi and Mark Carney rose to lead Britain, Italy and Canada.

What critics are saying

  • AI is costing jobs: Goldman's October 2025 AI plan came with a "limited reduction in roles" and slower hiring.
  • Expect five office days a week: Goldman reaffirmed the rule in 2023, and its CEO calls remote work an aberration.
  • Stock awards have lost value: shares fell 23% from July 15 to October 8, 2026, versus 18% at Morgan Stanley.

What makes Goldman Sachs unique

  • Traders outearn Goldman's famous merger advisers: trading made 57% of first-half 2026 revenue, versus 8% from advice.
  • Goldman is Wall Street's top merger adviser: it earned $4.6 billion advising on 2025 deals, versus JPMorgan's $3.1 billion.
  • The top prize is still partner: though public since 1999, Goldman named just 95 partners from 46,000-plus staff in 2024.

Goldman upgrades CoreWeave to Buy with $106 target despite 56% share slump

Goldman Sachs upgraded CoreWeave from Neutral to Buy on October 19, 2026, even as it cut its 12-month price target from $139 to $106. The new target implies a gain of about 73% from the October 16 close of $61.39. CoreWeave shares have lost nearly half their value since August, partly because yields on its 2031 and 2032 bonds climbed to around 15%. Analyst Gabriela Borges argues investors have overestimated the effect of future borrowing and underestimated the profit from new data center contracts. CoreWeave rents Nvidia chips to firms such as Meta and OpenAI. It had locked in about $104 billion in future revenue by the end of the second quarter, but posted a $626 million net loss that quarter. Ark Invest bought about $25.8 million of the stock in mid-October.

Tokenized stock trading surges overseas to $11.31B on Robinhood Chain as Goldman, Microsoft object in US

Tokenized stock trading is growing overseas while major US companies resist it at home, according to Bitwise Asset Management's latest quarterly report. On Robinhood Chain, tokenized stock volume rose from $526 million in July to $2.21 billion in August, then to $11.31 billion in September. Tokenized equities were also the fastest-growing category on Solana. Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, Western Digital, and Alphabet have objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on OKXICE, a venue launched by crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Sixteen companies have now objected. The US Securities and Exchange Commission's innovation exemption lets companies opt out. OKXICE co-chairman Andrew Cuomo said many companies would "wait and see" before taking part.

Goldman Sachs vs Bank of America: why the investment bank is the better 2026 buy

Bank of America and Goldman Sachs offer two ways to bet on financials in 2026: steady retail banking or market-driven investment banking. A Motley Fool writer favours Goldman, which has beaten both Bank of America and the S&P 500. In fiscal 2025, Bank of America's revenue fell about 0.5% to nearly $191.6 billion, with net income of nearly $30.5 billion. Goldman's revenue fell 1.4% to about $125.1 billion, with net income of close to $17.2 billion. Goldman's debt-to-equity ratio is roughly 4.9, against nearly 1.2 at Bank of America. Goldman's free cash flow was negative $47.2 billion; Bank of America's was nearly $12.6 billion. Bank of America looks cheaper on forward P/E and P/S ratios. It also faced a $1.2 billion regulatory charge in 2026, while Goldman reached a $500 million shareholder litigation settlement.
