  • Freda targets a manual compliance burden consuming 3.9% of European employment, per its launch.
  • The September 2026 launch aligns with rising demand for agentic compliance systems across regulated firms.
  • The founders' Tink exit to Visa gives Freda instant credibility with banks and compliance buyers.

What critics are saying

  • Vanta, ServiceNow, and OneTrust already own enterprise compliance workflows and budgets.
  • Bootstrapped with 30 million SEK, Freda must win revenue before cash runs out in 2027.
  • A bad agent action in audit, vendor risk, or access control creates customer liability and reputational collapse.

What makes Freda unique

  • Freda uses a regulatory engine plus customer knowledge graph to execute compliance actions, not just flag them.

Tink founders launch Freda - reveal secret venture.

Tink founders launch Freda - reveal secret venture. Daniel Kjellén and Fredrik Hedberg sold Tink to Visa in a billion-krona deal. Now the duo is launching the company Freda - which will let AI agents handle companies' regulatory compliance. Web editor Recently, Breakit wrote that the Tink billionaires had injected SEK 20 million into their new project Freda. At that point, the company-building had taken place behind closed doors. Freda did not even have a product but, according to hints on LinkedIn, would focus on regulatory compliance. Now Freda is launching officially - as the first agentic system for compliance, what is called compliance. The AI's job will be to keep track of rules, laws and regulatory requirements for the customers. Daniel Kjellén believes that AI now makes it possible to solve a problem that has long been considered unsolvable. "Every company we talk to sees compliance as a major burden. It is a function that has been forced to remain manual, in spreadsheets, because their obligations are too complex, their needs too specific, and no software has been able to keep up. AI changed that. We built Freda because that gap will soon no longer exist, and we want to be the ones who close it," says the co-founder, who has taken on the role of CEO at Freda. Fredrik Hedberg describes Freda as the tool they themselves lacked during the Tink years. "We built Freda on two things: a rules engine and a knowledge graph of each customer's organization, built from the systems they already use. Every action our agents take is anchored in both. That is the difference between an AI assistant that talks about compliance and a system that actually handles it," says Fredrik Hedberg. Became billionaires from Tink. The fintech company Tink was sold to Visa for as much as SEK 18 billion in 2021, one of the largest acquisitions ever in the Swedish tech sector. The founders each took home almost SEK 1 billion in the deal, and at the beginning of last year they left their roles at Visa to build the then-secretive company Freda, as Breakit reported. Daniel Kjellén and Fredrik Hedberg own just over 45 percent each of Freda, while former Tink employees Adam Ivarsson and Ruben Das, who have taken executive roles at Freda, hold the remaining shares.
