Requirements
  • An appropriate Operating Engineer's license, with Blue Seal as the minimum, of the appropriate grade issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor is required.
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license is required.
  • Two years of experience involving the operation and repair of heating plants and auxiliary equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of boilers, engines, motors, and auxiliary equipment used in power and heating plants, including their proper use, care, adjustment, and maintenance, is required.
  • The ability to walk long distances indoors and outdoors, stand for long periods, climb stairs, bend and stoop, lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and drive is required.
  • The employee must pass a four-month working test period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
  • The position requires a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate steam plant systems throughout the university campus, including high-pressure steam boilers, low-pressure steam boilers, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform related work as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong electrical skills are preferred.
  • Strong plumbing skills are preferred.
