About the job

Requirements
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or be a recent graduate.
  • Have a solid computer science foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking.
  • Have a genuine interest in working on robots, demonstrated through coursework, research, personal projects, competition teams, or internships.
  • Have strong programming skills in C++, Python, Golang, or Rust.
  • Be comfortable working with physical hardware in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
  • Be able to debug across layers, from driver-level issues to application behavior.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to networking and communication infrastructure connecting onboard robot systems to each other, the cloud, teleoperation, and monitoring systems.
  • Help build data collection pipelines that capture sensor, telemetry, and behavioral data from robots and reliably upload it to cloud storage for model training.
  • Work on telemetry and observability systems that provide real-time visibility into robot health and field performance.
  • Build internal tooling to accelerate robot software development, including deployment pipelines, logging, debugging tools, and field-testing utilities.
  • Support bring-up and field testing on live hardware, debugging issues across the onboard software stack.
  • Collaborate with machine learning, perception, and control engineers to keep onboard systems reliable and training data high quality.
  • Automate internal workflows to improve execution efficiency of the teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience bringing up and manipulating robots.
  • Familiarity with networking, inter-process communication, or communication protocols such as gRPC, DDS, QUIC, and WebSockets.
  • Exposure to cloud storage and data pipelines using AWS, GCP, S3, or GCS.
  • Experience with perception pipelines, control systems, or learned models running on real-time robot stacks.
  • Prior work on prototype or pre-production hardware.

About the company

Rhoda AI is building a two-armed humanoid robot designed as a general-purpose bimanual manipulation platform for industrial use. Its product centers on heavy-lifting and complex manipulation in factory and logistics environments, where many humanoid robots struggle. The robot combines dual arms with software and sensors that enable grasping, coordinating with both hands, and performing tasks that require strength and precision in industrial settings. Rhoda AI differentiates itself by targeting heavy-lift capabilities in robotics, a gap for many competitors, supported by a team with deep robotics and AI expertise and substantial funding. The company aims to bring commercially viable humanoid robots to industrial markets, competing with other players in factory automation and logistics robotics, with the goal of transforming how manual work is automated in manufacturing and related sectors.

What believers are saying

  • Rhoda raised $450 million in March 2026 at a $1.7 billion valuation.
  • Reuters said investors include Khosla Ventures, Temasek, Mayfield, Premji Invest, and Capricorn.
  • Rhoda says it already works with industrial partners across manufacturing and logistics.

What critics are saying

  • Tesla and Figure AI already dominate humanoid attention, hiring, and customer mindshare.
  • Internet-video training lacks guaranteed factory reliability; one failed pilot can stall deployments in 2026.
  • Without shipping revenue by 2027, Rhoda burns capital before customers trust its platform.

What makes Rhoda AI unique

  • Rhoda trains robots on millions of internet videos, not scarce teleoperation demos.
  • Jagdeep Singh, Gordon Wetzstein, and Vincent Clerc bring rare robotics, optics, and product depth.
  • Rhoda targets industrial heavy-lifting bimanual work, where dexterity and payload matter most.
