Requirements
  • An associate’s degree in education, public administration, sociology, business, or a related field is required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and internet research skills.
  • Familiarity with Alaska Native culture, Alaska rural life, and higher education or vocational training processes, with the ability to incorporate community values, customs, and beliefs into projects.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment, including with cultural organizations and community cultural experts.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel periodically.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate cooperative extension, cultural, and community-oriented programming for youth and adults in support of Iḷisaġvik College’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with key partners to manage and enhance services to local, regional, statewide, and international partners.
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee grants to ensure project directives comply with regulations and budgets.
  • Work closely with Iḷisaġvik College grants employees.
  • Track program data, including workshops and participant numbers, and provide timely reports to Advancement and Effectiveness and external audiences.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate cultural workshops for youth and adults while incorporating community feedback.
  • Collect quantitative, qualitative, and evaluative feedback from students and the community about program effectiveness and appropriateness.
  • Serve on relevant college and community committees, including the Indigenizing Iḷisaġvik committee.
  • Work with the supervisor to support, develop, maintain, and distribute marketing materials for program outreach and community and cultural programming.
  • Assist Student Services staff with student outreach, workshops, and activities, and provide cultural, wellness, and healthy-living programming and support.
  • Lead, coordinate, and/or assist with recurring Iñupiaq Cultural Hours and Iḷisaġvik Orientation as needed.
  • Comply with College policies, procedures, administrative directives, and applicable state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, public administration, sociology, business, or a related field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
