About the job

Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship and full-time U.S. residency are required due to contractual obligations with customers.
  • Availability for off-hours release work is required; releases commonly run outside business hours, and the role must be reliably present for most of them on a sustainable schedule.
  • Strong Git competency is required, including branching strategies, merges and squashes, cherry-picking, tagging, and managing the Git workflows that underpin a release process.
  • Strong technical fluency is required, including a working mental model of CI/CD pipelines, containers and images, build artifacts, frontend versus backend systems, deployment architecture, and MySQL concepts such as migrations, indexes, and the impact of database changes.
  • Proven release management experience in a SaaS environment, including managing multiple releases concurrently across cross-functional teams, is required.
  • Project and process management skills are required, including tracking scope, chasing dependencies, enforcing process at the gate, and designing process where none exists.
  • Communication and documentation skills are required to work closely with Engineering, QA, Product, and Customer Success.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Execute Standard and Limited audience-scoped releases, including configuring and verifying audience scoping.
  • Execute approved hotfixes by cutting the branch, shipping it, and closing it out.
  • Define the rollback path per release type, make the call when a deployment fails technically, and run the rollback.
  • Own the technical and business go/no-go on every grouped release, including Release Readiness and Milestone Reviews; assess whether changes are shippable, dependencies are present, the migration path has been rehearsed, and the business is ready.
  • Surface technical coupling and deployment-ordering constraints when release contents are decided, and handle non-standard releases such as running a migration separately, staging a two-phase deploy, or sequencing a schema change ahead of dependent code.
  • Produce a release manifest for every release, including contents, teams, commits, migrations, and configuration changes.
  • Enforce the branching model across every repository, including branch creation, merge and squash discipline, cherry-picks into release branches, release branch cut and close, and tag and version discipline.
  • Gate what enters a release branch after cut and keep release branches free of drift, orphans, and long-lived unmerged work.
  • Own the known state, availability, and scheduling of Devtest, Acceptance, Beta, and Production, including data refresh and configuration parity so QA validates against a representative environment.
  • Own the build-promotion and deployment pipeline end to end, drive out manual steps, and verify that each deployment landed cleanly.
  • Keep deploy-pending and validation statuses accurate so upcoming releases are answerable from the board.
  • Report release frequency against plan, cycle time from code-complete to production, failed-deployment rate, rollback rate, hotfix rate, and hotfix-to-scheduled-release ratio.
  • Run a short retrospective on any failed or rolled-back release, and own release runbooks and documentation.
  • Produce and retain the change-control record for every production push, including what changed, who approved it, what validation passed, when it went out, and the rollback path.
  • Serve as the system of record for release history in security, compliance, and customer audits.
  • Derive cut dates and code-freeze windows from the Technical Delivery Manager’s release calendar, communicate them, and enforce them at the branch.
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the business, including Sales, Customer Success, and leadership.
  • Notify teams and stakeholders of deployment start, completion, and failure in real time, and coordinate cross-team release dependencies before cut.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior software engineering, engineering management, Agile/Scrum/Ops, or database experience is strongly preferred.
  • AWS familiarity is strongly preferred.
  • Regulated-industry release experience, including HIPAA, SOC 2, or FedRAMP change control, is strongly preferred.
  • Zero-downtime deployment and database migration experience is strongly preferred.
  • Feature-flag or progressive-delivery experience, directly relevant to Limited Releases, is strongly preferred.
  • Scripting and automation experience, plus familiarity with defect tracking and configuration management tools, is strongly preferred.

About the company

eVisit builds a platform that lets large health systems run their own virtual hospitals, uniting virtual and hybrid care across acute and ambulatory settings with programs like Virtual Nursing, ED Triage, and primary, urgent, and specialty care. The product is highly configurable (over 150 settings) to tailor workflows and run care through providers’ own networks, not third-party telehealth vendors. This approach improves accessibility and patient experience, reflected in about 42% higher adoption and a 5.8x ROI for customers. The goal is to scale virtual and hybrid care within existing health systems to expand access and improve outcomes without competing for the same patients.

What believers are saying

  • The 2026 leadership expansion targets federal healthcare, opening VA, DoD, and CMS budgets.
  • eVisit's 2023 Bluestream acquisition adds digital front door and 198-language interpretation capabilities.
  • Virtual nursing demand stays strong as eVisit markets throughput, shorter stays, and lower readmissions.

What critics are saying

  • Epic Telehealth and Oracle Health bundle telehealth into EHR contracts, shrinking eVisit deals.
  • Bluestream integration creates product sprawl and migration friction across workflows, languages, and front-door features.
  • If federal healthcare sales stall after 2026, eVisit remains dependent on health-system budget cycles.

What makes eVisit unique

  • eVisit won Best in KLAS for virtual care platforms in 2024 and 2025.
  • It supports care delivery across 50 states and more than 35,000 hospital beds.
  • The July 2026 Mags Tamilarasu hire signals a rare commercial-and-federal healthcare platform strategy.

eVisit names Mags Tamilarasu chief product officer, promotes Justin Miller to COO.

eVisit names Mags Tamilarasu chief product officer, promotes Justin Miller to COO. July 28, 2026 eVisit has expanded its executive leadership team by appointing Mags Tamilarasu as chief product officer and promoting Justin Miller to chief operating officer, moves that support the company's strategy to grow across commercial and federal healthcare while strengthening its digital care platform. The appointments come as eVisit seeks to broaden its presence beyond commercial health systems by expanding into the federal healthcare market and creating technology and operational connections between the two sectors. The company said the strategy aligns with its mission to improve access to care, noting that nearly 80% of U.S. counties qualify as healthcare deserts, affecting more than 120 million Americans. Backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Texas Health Resources, MedStar Health and UPMC, eVisit provides virtual care technology to large health systems and healthcare organizations. The company believes integrating commercial healthcare innovation with the scale of federal health agencies through a shared AI-driven, secure technology platform can help address persistent care access challenges. Tamilarasu joins eVisit with nearly 30 years of experience in federal health technology. Most recently, he served as chief technical director for health at SAIC and previously spent 13 years as chief technology officer of Federal Health Solutions at Leidos, where he led technology initiatives for agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Food and Drug Administration. Earlier in his career, he led solution architecture efforts at Lockheed Martin. As chief product officer, Tamilarasu will oversee eVisit's product strategy and long-term technology roadmap while directing the compliance initiatives needed to deploy the company's platform across both commercial and federal healthcare environments. "Mags Tamilarasu is a visionary leader who understands that healthcare technology succeeds or fails on mission readiness and patient outcomes," CEO Sachin Agrawal said. "As we continue to build leadership in both commercial and federal health, Mags' experience architecting resilient, enterprise-grade systems will be a force multiplier." Tamilarasu said his focus will be on building technology that supports clinicians without compromising security or regulatory standards. "Great technology in healthcare has to be trusted, not just powerful," he said. "My focus is building the product and AI capabilities that support clinicians and care teams, without ever compromising on the security and compliance standards our commercial and federal customers depend on." The company also promoted Miller from senior vice president of operations and customer success to chief operating officer earlier this year. In his expanded role, he oversees engineering, operations, customer success, implementation and support, with responsibility for aligning the company's operational execution with its growth strategy. Agrawal credited Miller with strengthening the company's operational foundation as eVisit expands into new markets. "Justin's promotion set the operational foundation we needed for this next phase of growth," Agrawal said. "He continues to be the right leader to ensure our platform turns complex health data into the operational insights required to shorten time-to-care for patients and providers." Miller said scaling operations effectively will be critical as the company grows across commercial and federal healthcare. "Growth only sticks if the organization can absorb it," he said. "My focus is change management - making sure every team, process, and system at eVisit can adapt as we grow across new markets, so our customers feel the benefit of that growth rather than the disruption of it." The leadership changes underscore a broader trend in digital healthcare, where technology providers are increasingly pursuing opportunities in both commercial and government markets while developing AI-enabled platforms that meet stringent security and compliance requirements. Companies capable of serving both sectors are positioning themselves to address growing demand for virtual care solutions that improve access, streamline operations and support increasingly data-driven healthcare delivery. Headquartered in the United States, eVisit partners with several of the nation's 20 largest health systems and supports care delivery across all 50 states in facilities representing more than 35,000 hospital beds. The company has been recognized as Best in KLAS for virtual care platforms in both 2024 and 2025, reflecting customer evaluations of its technology, innovation and service.
