Requirements
  • Adjunct faculty must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Adjunct faculty must meet the faculty credentials outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area of instruction.
  • A qualified adjunct faculty member must meet the applicable technical course standard through one of the listed qualification routes: the full-time faculty discipline standard; a Department of Labor or Bureau for Apprenticeship Training-recognized journeyman’s card in the directly related discipline with at least two years in journeyman status and linked experience; the specialized certifications or credentials required for the class plus five years of directly related work experience; or an appropriate current Indiana Department of Education license directly linked to the course competencies.
  • Adjunct faculty must possess any specialized certifications required for the class as indicated in the Curriculum of Record.
  • All activities must be conducted with appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required records.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and contribute to a positive student experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner and comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Know and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
Desired Qualifications
  • For AGRI 110, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Education, or a Master of Business Administration.
  • For AGRI 111, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Agronomy or Agriculture Education.
  • For AGRI 112, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Horticulture or Agriculture Education.
  • For AGRI 113, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Animal Science or Agriculture Education.
  • For AGRI 114, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Agricultural Systems Management, Agronomy, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics, or Agriculture Education.
  • For AGRI 209, an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Agriculture Education, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Systems Management, Agronomy, Animal Science, Botany, Horticulture, Plant Science, or another agriculture-related discipline.
  • For AGRI 209, an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution together with a Series 3 commodity futures broker license from NASD.
  • For AGRI 210, an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Education, or a Master of Business Administration.
