Requirements
  • The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • The candidate must hold American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate competency in clinical practice, set goals independently when managing complex patients and families, use the nursing process, and adapt care to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Provide safe and competent patient care, follow current patient care guidelines, and communicate with peers, colleagues, providers, and others.
  • Independently implement the nursing process for patients and families and integrate unit- and service-wide evidence-based practice resources into clinical practice.
  • Operate unit-based patient care technology safely and competently, operate the organization’s computerized information systems efficiently, and develop practice competencies, skills, and knowledge.
  • Delegate care where appropriate.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees and students.
  • Create personal goals for lifelong learning and professional growth.
  • Conduct self-assessment of performance and identify personal learning needs.
  • Identify ethical issues in practice and take appropriate action.
  • Refer to and consult with other health care providers and make provision for continuity of care.
  • Use evidence-based guidelines and policies to guide professional practice.
  • Participate in established quality improvement studies or activities for patient safety and quality measures and assist in continual readiness activities.
  • Implement infection control procedures and document according to hospital policy.
  • Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures and immediately report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or injuries and accidents to the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse are preferred.
  • An additional life support credential such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification, or other clinical specialty certifications, is preferred.
  • Visual color acuity is preferred depending on the role in specific units.
