Project wins Regeneration & Conservation Award at Constructing Excellence London & South East Awards 2026. As project manager on behalf of Whitbread, Cumming Group is pleased to see this landmark regeneration project recognised with the Regeneration & Conservation Award at the Constructing Excellence London & South East Awards 2026. The award recognises projects that successfully preserve and enhance existing assets while delivering long-term value for future generations. This project exemplifies that balance, bringing new life to a historic building while ensuring its heritage remains visible and accessible. A key aspect of the scheme was the retention of the original historic façade, alongside the preservation of the former police station reading room. The reading room was carefully supported and retained in situ while construction works progressed around it, reflecting the project's commitment to safeguarding elements of the building that contribute to its historic significance and identity. The development celebrates the site's rich history and evolution over time. From its origins as The Saracen's Head Inn, through its years as Snow Hill Police Station, to its current role asa hub by Premier Inn hotel, each chapter of the building's story has informed the completed scheme. Heritage is woven throughout the design. A publicly accessible cultural and heritage space showcases artwork created by local artists, helping visitors connect with the building's past and its role within the local community. Historic references also appear throughout the development, including replica police lanterns and notice boards inspired by original features once found on the building. The project demonstrates how thoughtful regeneration can extend the life of historic buildings while adapting them for long-term contemporary use. By combining conservation, placemaking and public engagement, it ensures that the building's heritage remains an active part of its future rather than simply a record of its past. This recognition reflects the commitment and collaboration of the client, design team, contractor and wider project partners. Cumming Group is proud to have contributed to a project that successfully balances heritage conservation with the needs of a modern city. Image credit: Chris Dalton Photography

Cumming Group expands Texas footprint through merger with Vidaurri Management Group. Jessica Busch Senior Director, Public Relations Vidaurri Management Group (VMG), a Fort Worth-based owner's representation and project management firm, has merged with Cumming Group. VMG builds on Cumming Group's established Texas team of more than 250 professionals. Founded in 2016, VMG delivers projects across a wide range of sectors, including municipal, K-12/higher education, healthcare, manufacturing, aviation, entertainment, hospitality, multi-family, mixed-use, and corporate. VMG is led by Co-Founder Jon Vidaurri, who brings more than 40 years of experience in the built environment, during which he has managed a wide range of programs shaping the DFW Metroplex - from hospitals and police stations to shopping centers and mixed-use developments. The merger strengthens Cumming Group's position in one of the nation's most active construction markets. Dallas-Fort Worth generates over $40 billion in annual construction activity, with Fort Worth ranking among the fastest growing U.S. cities and Texas leading the country in population growth. This growth is driving sustained demand for project types that Cumming Group is deeply experienced in managing, such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and municipal facilities. Favourable economic, policy, and energy conditions across Texas are also driving growth in the advanced technologies sector, which is a key focus for Cumming Group. "We have continued to invest in the fast-growing Texas market since 2023, and it's exciting to deepen that commitment by welcoming a firm as capable and respected as VMG to our team in the Lone Star State," said Derek Hutchison, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cumming Group. "VMG's sterling reputation throughout North Texas and experience in high-growth sectors makes the deal a logical step for Cumming Group. VMG fits perfectly with our strategy to bring on partners that are best-in-class and have the deep local expertise required to deliver our clients' most complex and impactful projects." "What mattered most to us was finding a partner that understands owner expectations and values strong local relationships," said Jon Vidaurri, Managing Principal of Vidaurri Management Group. "Cumming Group brings the operational depth, technical expertise, and recruiting strength needed to support larger and more complex capital programs. That allows us to preserve our disciplined, accountable approach while broadening what we can deliver to owners across Texas."
