Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent comparative experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design for various cooling systems, variable refrigerant flow systems, ventilation, and exhaust systems.
  • Experience with mechanical design for mid-rise multifamily buildings, mixed-use buildings, residential buildings, and enclosed parking garages.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Wrightsoft, and Elite.
  • Ability to read blueprints and compute dimensions from architectural plans.
  • Knowledge of energy and building code compliance for mechanical systems, California Title 24, International Residential Code residential codes, International Code Council codes, and uniform building codes.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to drive deadlines in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to work well with other engineers and designers.
Responsibilities
  • Produce Manual J, Manual S, and Manual D calculations and designs using Wrightsoft, along with final construction documents in AutoCAD.
  • Design and engineer single-family and multifamily, low-rise and high-rise residential heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Generate detailed mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD for construction documentation of mechanical systems for bidding and construction.
  • Prepare construction documents in AutoCAD.
  • Work with design staff and drafters to complete projects.

  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design for residential building systems, code compliance, and construction.
