Arrcus has announced a proof-of-concept with Canadian telecommunications company TELUS to explore using its Arrcus Inference Network Fabric (AINF) for delivering sovereign, distributed AI inferencing at national scale. The initiative aims to enable secure, low-latency AI for mission-critical applications whilst keeping sensitive data within Canadian borders. AINF is a purpose-built networking fabric that dynamically evaluates business policies including latency targets, data sovereignty boundaries and power constraints in real time. The solution integrates with NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs to deliver line-rate encryption and works with NVIDIA Spectrum-4 Ethernet switches. Research indicates the technology can deliver over 60% reduction in Time to First Token, 15% improvement in throughput and 40% reduction in end-to-end latency. The solution is available now.

TELUS and Powerfleet have partnered to launch Vision 360, an AI-powered vehicle safety technology for the Canadian market. The system uses multiple cameras and artificial intelligence to provide commercial drivers with real-time 360-degree visibility around their vehicles, helping prevent accidents. The launch addresses Transport Canada's new mandate requiring all new school buses to have perimeter visibility systems by November 2027. Vision 360 identifies hazards including pedestrians, cyclists and obstacles whilst mitigating blind spots. According to Powerfleet data, their AI-powered safety systems can reduce collision incidents by up to 60% and potentially lower insurance costs by 25%. The partnership currently serves 2,500 Powerfleet customers and integrates Powerfleet's video telematics with TELUS' network infrastructure across Canada.
TELUS and L-SPARK have launched the TELUS Sovereign AI Accelerator, providing Canadian startups with access to Canada's fastest AI supercomputer and commercial expertise to develop advanced AI solutions. The six-month programme aims to accelerate participants' go-to-market strategies and investment readiness. The inaugural cohort includes five Canadian companies: Airy3D (3D imaging for robotics and automotive), Codalio (AI-driven application development), Edge Signal (physical AI for retail), PataBid (construction bidding software), and TopoLift (bespoke AI intelligence). Participants receive compute credits from the TELUS AI Factory, powered by 99% renewable energy and NVIDIA technology, alongside advisory support from L-SPARK. The programme is designed to fast-track product development whilst maintaining data sovereignty and intellectual property control.
