About the job

Requirements
  • A B.A. or B.S. degree is typically required; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Two to five years of related background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Management and a working knowledge of computer-based manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills and the ability to interface with a variety of management levels and functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Responsibilities
  • Determine planner codes, lead times, and units of measure, and maintain accurate, current information in the system so it can drive material and build requirements.
  • Plan production order releases to customer request dates when system-driven requirements do not exist. Coordinate resolution of material shortages or capacity problems through Purchasing, the Value Stream Leader, Quality, or other functions, or develop an alternate plan. Coordinate internal resources to achieve the master schedule and communicate deviations from the known or requested plan to all functions, particularly Inside Sales.
  • Set up outside services as needed to maintain production flow.
  • Work with the team leader, Purchasing, the Value Stream Leader, and manufacturing associates to schedule and flow work through manufacturing areas using techniques such as kanban, material requirements planning, and standard work instructions.
  • Assist the Value Stream Leader in analyzing and coordinating Engineering change orders among cross-functional groups when effectivity dates or must-conform requirements exist, and implement appropriate system transactions. Maximize inventory dollars and align schedules with customer requirements.
  • Recommend whether defective purchased materials should be returned to the supplier, sorted or reworked in-house, or investigated with Engineering for possible alternate materials, with the aim of meeting master and customer schedule requirements.
  • Analyze and track plant performance metrics as directed by the Value Stream Leader or Plant Manager, and recommend improvements. Metrics may include delinquency by manufacturing area, reasons for missed shipments, inventory levels, and customer kanban status.
  • Work with the Value Stream Leader to determine headcount requirements or assist with overtime decisions, using visibility into forward schedules, bottlenecks, and customer kanban requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional activities to determine and implement processes that improve material flow outside normal material requirements planning, consistent with continuous improvement or Lean principles. Examples include supplier and customer kanban, point-of-use stocking, and polca, to meet facility financial objectives and improve the customer's position.
  • Assist plant personnel in improving transaction accuracy and removing roadblocks that hinder work-order completion.
  • Focus on achieving department and business-unit goals and objectives, and develop metrics that indicate the level of achievement.
  • Act as a materials-management liaison between business-unit product managers and product supply sources to set material plans and address and resolve problems. Issue status reports on forecasts, master schedules, supply availability, inventory, and material effectiveness.
  • Participate in process-improvement efforts, project-team initiatives, decision-making, and problem-solving to achieve business performance, annual inventory-reduction, and customer-service targets.
  • Provide product-supply and inventory-planning support for new product development programs, product redesigns, product source changes, series changes, and product discontinuance to minimize excess and obsolete inventory. Focus areas include available-for-shipment targets, manufacturing-system forecast and build requirements, material-availability resolution, safety-stock plans, customer service, and cost-reduction objectives.
  • Maintain familiarity with and apply company policies and procedures in compliance with government laws, including standards of business conduct, intellectual property, control environment, information protection, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, and health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • APICS certification is desirable.
  • Experience with AX is preferred.
